Those 2 former Patriots were the ONLY #17 draft selections in Pats history.

RB John Stephens was the runaway Rookie Of The Year in 1988 with nearly 1,200 yards rushing - 2 decent years after his rookie year and then his injuries started to quickly derail a career that looked Hall Of Fame type

Woody was a key player at center on an offensive line that won 2 Super Bowls

I think the team has been successful at #17 by those 2 picks thus far

In 1999 we had ironically picked at the same numbers #17 and #28 of the first round.....#28 That year was a player that I thought was going to be the greatest LB for the Pats in Ohio State's ILB Andy Katzenmoyer, but an early back injury in his rookie season ended his career abruptly,I still believe today that from what I saw of him at OSU he would have been one of the best ever Pats LBs

And by the way...the player selected by the Pats AFTER Katzenmoyer happened to be on of the toughest blue collar RBs in Pats history Kevin Faulk at #46

All pre-BB, lets hope we can do better.

The OSU has had a lot of very good college players but very few good pros. I would have liked to see if Andy K would have been an exception. It is also one of the reasons I'm a little put off on C Heywood at #28 or #33.

O$U has a ton of good NFL pros, where are you getting that from?

Holmes, Mangold, Laurinaitis, Will Smith, Winfield, Hawk, Gamble, Vrable, Whitner...

I will politely disagree on Katz. The problem with the big guy was that he was covered in velcro and just stuck like glue to blockers. Compare that the Ted Johnson; Teddy was covered with Teflon; blockers just melted off him.

Katz had good speed for his size and BB was carving out a small role for him as a cover LB until he got injured.

Anthony Gonzalez, Malcolm Jenkins (CB, Saints).

Joey Galloway was no slouch in his day. Eddie George. Nate Clements. Na'il Diggs.
