Late Round Corners/Safeties

The 2011 safety class is one of the weakest I've seen. The corners, however, are phenomenal, including several bigger corners who may be able to transition to FS at the next level. Our corner and safety rotation appears set next year with the return of Bodden, but late round competition seems like a good way to strengthen the bottom of the depth chart.

Binky alert, binky alert!

I was reading through some pro day results, and I came across Chris Prosinski, a FS from Wyoming. He had very, very good numbers:

I was intrigued enough to know more, so I did a little reading up. He was a hugely productive player (over 350 career tackles, and over 100 tackles each of the last two years), and I found a YouTube clip of Tom Shaw speaking highly of his athleticism--which was backed up by the pro day--and Chris looking very smooth in the drills. He moves more like a corner than a safety.

And, wouldn't you know it, but he has game film online, including all-22 shots of his games. I just started watching, but a few minutes in, he's playing really well against Tennessee, doing his best Eric Berry impersonation against the pass. He's very fluid in coverage, without false steps that I saw. He trusts his eyes and goes to make the play. Really intriguing stuff.

Obviously I'm basing my opinion on only a very few resources, but he's the best safety I've seen in this draft. Definitely a late round target to watch.

Berry is stronger and thicker, and on field had more interception production, but otherwise they're very similarly talented players, based on what I saw. Prosinski's definitely going in the rest of my mock drafts.

Excellent size. Good but not great speed. Not shifty but very good once locked onto a WR. Can be physical in press/run support but needs to get stronger.

Really interesting developmental guy that in the short-term could do a good job against bigger outside receivers. Think Cromartie without the extra gear and the inflated sense of self worth.

Sherman's been a binky for two years (specifically for FS, BTW). Brown has been on my watch list for awhile. Encouraging to know we're doing the PW with Allen.

You got my attention WRT Prosinski, though I'm guessing there aren't too many Wyoming LBs who'll be drafted high if he's had that many tackles over the past couple seasons.

He really caught my eye at the Senior Bowl.. Played very well and definitely surprised Mayock.
