The Patriots would be the #4 seed hosting the #6 Denver Broncos. Would you be confident in the Patriots to pull out the win WITH Plummer starting? Plummer hasn't lost to the Patriots yet.

I would be confident that we could pull out a win - we've improved since our meeting and they have either regressed or are treading water. I just don't see how we are going to move up from our 4th seed position. We need to win out and have two or three teams in front of us (all of which have pretty easy schedules, I think?) lose at least two games. Not an easy task and a bummer, since I think a first round bye is key to getting to the Super Bowl.

With Plummer it's a moot point because he won't be starting, barring injury. As long as our defense adjusts well to the loss of Seau (who'd have believed that line as serious a couple of months ago), I will be confident in any game. Not saying we're guaranteed anything but I'd be confident.

Still a chance at the 2nd seed but it unlikely. Going with the 4th seed scenario I see us beating any #6 out there, then it gets interesting.
WC weekend - Pats beat (Denver, KC, Jags, Jets, Bengals)
Divisional round - Pats travel to Indy - tough game but Pats win
Conference championship - KC travels to NE (KC beats SD) - Pats win

Superbowl - Pats beat New Orleans

I thought the #1 seed always played the lowest remaining seed?

If the #3 and #4 seeds win in the Wild Card round, the Pats at #4 would go to Indy, not Baltimore. If the #3 seed loses in the Wild Card round to the #5 seed, and the #4 seed (Pats win) then Indy would face the #5 seed (lowest remaining) and the Pats would face Baltimore.

But, we have a lot of football still to be played.

I remember when I moved to New Orleans and became a Saints season ticket holder I thought of that scenario and said to myself "nah, they've never even made the playoffs in the same year." If it actually happened my head would explode, I'd root for the Pats of course, but I wouldn't be able to enjoy the game.

There is one problem i see with what everyone is saying the 4th seed plays the 5TH seed not the 6th seed the 3 seed plays the 6th seed first
