2006 it was Greg Jennings
2007 it was Lamar Woodley
2008 it was yuch..Vernon Gholston
2009 it was Brian Orakpo
2010 it was Carlos Dunlap

(wow four outside backers in a row)

This year it's Cameron Jordan. I know all of your are going to say he doesn't fit what we look for in an end, and he hasn't shown he can play in space to move to olb. But what I'll say is the guy is going to be disruptive no matter what scheme and no matter what position. Even if all he does is play on the end in sub packages his rookie year he'll bring something we sorely need. After that he can either slim down and really work on playing in space, if he does this he could potentially be the next Willie. Or, he can beef up a little and work on his handwork and become the next Big Sey. No matter what, he has that "it" factor that I don't see in many of the front seven guys this year. He WILL be a disruptive force for someone, and I hope that someone is our beloved Pats.

Bill values consistency more than disruptiveness, and I don't see Jordan anywhere near the level of Seymour or Warren in run defense. I also think he's going to be a DE in a 4-3 team.

Seymour was disruptive
Willie was disruptive

we need some disruptiveness in that front seven and we have NONE right now

I have finally given up. I will now post threads regarding "Players I Rate Much Higher Than Anyone Would Imagine" That used to be the meaning of a footaball binky. Now we just use the word "binky" to mean favorite. Cameron Jordan is a consenus top 5 choice.

OK, vent over.

Why wouldn't you simply post: "Cameron Jordan: my 2011 Favorite"? Is there any difference in meaning?

Ahh. So that's what that stupid word is supposed to mean!

Anyway, I think Cam Jordan is the next Shaun Ellis. And that's pretty darn good.

I fully support your rant in principle. :) But...I just looked at 5 recent mocks: Rob Rang, Chad Reuter, NationalFootballPost, WalterFootball, and DraftCountdown. Not one of them had Jordan going higher than pick 10.

So, since you rate him an easy top-5 pick, by your own definition that must make him your binky!

Dont see it........he's too small o be a full time 2 gap DE

:)

I use Draftek and "consensus" interchangably sometimes, since Draftek is a consensus draft. But, in reality, your point is well-taken.

I view it to mean the guy you really really want your team to take

Yes. He would be #3 on my board behind Von Miller and Aldon Smith, but ahead of Dareus, Fairley, and Watt.

Ran a 4.7 at the combine, think weighed in at 287 or so. Slim him down to 270, and stick him at ROLB.

Having said that, Von Miller is a pass rushing monster that's my binky

Slim him down to 270 and I really could see him filling Willie's old shoes quite well

Count me in the minority here for not liking Aldon Smith. I don't view him as a very good tackler, and at this point that trait is already learned or not.

I always struggled with that one: at WHAT POINT does a player cross over from Binkification to simply: "This is my favorite of the Blue Chippers."??

Metallica was a band I worshipped, but Alice in Chains ~ though undoubtedly popular ~ was a band I felt a particular connection to. MIND you: I felt a powerfull connection to Metallica, as well ~ still do ~ but EVERYBODY did. Alice in Chains, on the other hand, though very successfull, was still a bit...Off The Grid, if you will. Somehow, it felt like I shared a secret ~ a secret that a mere several million knew!! Hah!! ~ whereas EVERYBODY understood Metallica's magnificence. Hard to explain.

"Players I Rate Much Higher Than Anyone Would Imagine"

That's probably a little too strict in The Information Age.

I'll settle for a 20% Mark Up. :D
