According to rotoworld he, and Al have sat down and come too the conclusion that it would be best for him too move on.

I don't know what kind of money he'd be looking for, but he was Oaklands best run blocker the last few years.

Anyone think he'd be a fit here?

Lacks pass protection skills

I am more worried about Brady staying on his feet and away from blindside hits than BJGE finding room to run

Pass....

I remember seeing Willy Mac bull rush him but it was more of a one push and Gallery was on his ass. But he was a rookie at the time.
Maybe he could be a guard.....
Naw forget it. Pass.

Gallery has been playing guard for awhile to the best of my knowledge.

Robert Gallery to hit the market

After speaking with Raiders owner Al Davis, Gallery has decided to sign somewhere else whenever free agency begins.

The money line is..... the money line:

Raiders senior executive John Herrera told The Associated Press on Thursday the decision was made because of the vast difference in contract proposals. Herrera says Gallery was seeking about $8 million a season while Oakland was willing to offer about $2.5 million.

Re: Robert Gallery to hit the market

Above average guard, plays with nastiness, sort of like Mankins in that sense. Never really panned out at Tackle. Definitely an upgrade over Connolly. I think he played at LG for the Raiders this past season.

Probably on the wrong side of 30 (check this).

Re: Robert Gallery to hit the market

No thanks, and NO FREAKING WAY if he's seeking around $8M.

Gallery is 30, played LG last season. Wouldn't take him for $8 - but would for $4-5 million, which is only a slight bump from the $3.5 they were paying Kaczur.

No thnx. Hes like mankins times 3 when it comes to money. I like connoly's play. Hopefully our line looks like this LT matt light/ or rookie, Lg mankins, C rookie or koppen, rg connoly or rookie RT vollmer

This!

Gallery asked for $8M a season from the Raiders. Once they stopped laughing, they said "No thanks." He might be an option if Mankins isn't signed, but for a good bit less than what the Patriots would be offering to Mankins (and nowhere near $8M).

I consider Robert Gallery one of the biggest 1st round busts in the last decade. A cautionary tale for anyone who thinks a 1st round linemen will necessarily make the Oline better...

But hey, see what the kid's got.

Re: Robert Gallery to hit the market

If the Pats were willing to pay what he's looking for, Logan Mankins would have a long term deal. /thread

Gallery's ex-head coach is now the OL coach in Seattle,,

The Seattle OL needs a ton of help,, wonder how interested they will be???

Reiss mentioned how BB was a big fan of Gallery's leading up to the draft.

Quick-hit thoughts around NFL & Pats - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

3. Could the Patriots be interested in Raiders offensive lineman Robert Gallery as a free agent? That was a question some had after Gallery said last week that he won’t be back in Oakland. My feeling is that Gallery will probably be out of the financial ballpark the Patriots will be willing to go. On a related note, in 2004, I remember Bill Belichick saying that he would have picked Gallery No. 1 in the draft, and that Gallery could play in any scheme.

I wonder if part of his early struggles were due to the awful franchise he went to. Maybe he received poor coaching or couldn't adjust to the dysfunctional work environment. Or maybe he just wasn't good enough to be a franchise tackle.

Exactly. He won't get $8 mil a season from anyone - I'd guess $4-5 mil is where he'll end up. That's doable if Belichick wants him.

How they evaluate Gallery will indeed involve what shows up on film.

It will also be the difference between what can be fixed and what cannot be. Enter Dante, right?

Wouldn't rule it out, but only if he wants to make the Deal With The Devil that seems the hallmark of the Pats: Go to NE, be in contention every year, have career high points, but beware... once you leave the enchanted NE kingdom, the spell is broken. You may become Randy in Tennessee (or Givens in Tennessee, or Branch in Seattle, or Damien Woody kicking around in obscurity in where, Detroit? I have no idea whether Woody became good at some point. I just know nobody cares.)

So two things - 1, does Gallery want to win enough to go to the home of Win for cheaper, and 2, is Gallery + Dante something different from Gallery without? That'll determine what NE will pay him to take a spin in the Big NE Resurrection Machine.

With what's gone on already with the NE offensive line, I'd say nobody is off the board... but we don't know what money he'd demand in a NE deal. We've seen weird changes in demands to go to NE before. Can't count on it, but it's happened.

He wants $8 million ... so i figure perhaps Bill might if he

was in a good mood offer him 3.75 million ... which means he is not coming here.
