Okay, a couple of scenarios that I wanted to see which one you liked better for the patriots.
17. Ryan Kerrigan-OLB
28. Cameron Hayward-DE
33. Rahim Moore, Safety
61. Ben Ijiliana, G/T

or
17. J.J. Watt-DE
28. Anthony Castonzo-OT
33. Akeem Ayers, OLB
51. Ras-I Dowling, CB

I'd jump up and down at #2 if you could substitute any one of a dozen players for Akeem Ayers.

The #33 pick is extremely weak in both scenarios. So the question of which would I rather comes down to the other three players. I'll take #1 without hesitation.

Including "a third-round pick in 2011 and a first-rounder in 2012"? :)

Guess I'd rather some kind of mash-up of the two:

17. Watt (though he probably won't be there)
28. OT - yer cherce
33. Heyward
60. OLB (Reed, Acho, Sheard, Romeus, whoever)
74. OG - yer cherce
92. CB or RB or WR

I don't really like either of them....if one of them didn't have DB it would probably be easier to decide but I'll go with #1.

I'd rather the Pats take Richard Sherman and develop him behind Meriweather/Chung/Sanders than take Moore.

I'd prefer Watt and Jordan over Heyward. I prefer Kerrigan over Ayers. I honestly feel that Castonzo is going to be a mediocre RT in the NFL. I have no interest in Dowling or any CB before the 4th round.

I honestly feel that Castonzo is going to be a mediocre RT in the NFL.

Why?

Is it becuase he is a horrible run blocker that gets little if any push at the snap of the ball on running plays?

Amongst other things.. Not to mention that, in the Senior Bowl, he was a sieve.

Are people envisioning Watt as an OLB candidate? I guess I would not understand taking both Watt and Heyward at 17 and 33 like suggested since they seem to be the same player.
The reason I added Moore at 33 is that I was thinking Merriweather is better than 50/50 of being gone I think leaving no real rangy FS on the roster. Chung, Sanders, and McGowan seem more like the SS type.

(A) They are basically the same size, and neither seems a logical OLB.

(B) Meriweather may be better than 50/50 gone after 2011, but certainly not before the season.

I agree. I would note that neither Watt or Costonzo is likely to be available when we pick. So mny have us drafting Castonzo at 17.
