I am really impressed with this guy's combine measureables. I only remember seeing him once this year vs Texas A&M and he destroyed their OTs but they had a very weak OL. Can he convert to 3-4 OLB? Here were his measureables:

6-4 7/8
264 pounds
36 arms
10 hands
4.71 forty
28 inch vertical
9-9 broad jump
7.07 three cone

Thoughts?

Sure......

Interesting that he had such a poor vertical with a better than average long jump.

The poor vertical is very off-putting to me. I like this kid as a late round project, and included him in my most recent mock, but he has very little explosion. I'd like to see more explosive power out of a linebacker. Mid to high 30s, at any rate. Only notching 28 inches is nonathletic offensive linemen territory.

I haven't watched tape on him, but FWIW I've heard multiple scouts say he's way too stiff to play linebacker.

That is my read on him as well.

PS: The poor vertical shows me no explosion. If we do draft an OLB/DE in the first round, I want a guy that is sudden.

This guy's measurables are very interesting when compared with Cunningham. I think he is worth looking at in the 4th round if Pats have not already taken to other OLBs.

Chinasa vs Cunningham
Height 6-4 7/8 6-3 3/8
Weight 264 260
Arms 36 33 3/4
Hands 10 10 3/8
40 Time 4.71 4.66
Vertical 28 inch 31 inch
Broad Jump 9-9 9-2
Three Cone 7.07 7.21

:D

Those combine or pro day #'s for Cunningham?

Stiffness is just residual muscle tension, one of the easiest things to correct.

Sure......

All I was saying that as a 6th-UDFA he wouldnt be a bad developmental prospect. Outside of the poor vertical, his other numbers are all solid and he has good size and weight for our scheme.

NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
Chinasa's game film suggests he could be one of the top defensive end prospects in this year's draft. One of his biggest weaknesses, however, is his inconsistent motor. If he can find a way to bring this same intensity on every play he could be a real contributor in the NFL.

Chinasa often plays from a stand-up position and is effective in that role. This gives him the potential to play linebacker in the NFL as well as defensive end -- albeit in more of a pass-rush specialist. Coaches and scouts will consider him worth a look in the middle to late rounds of the draft, however, because they will believe they can light a fire under him to maximize his potential.

Analysis
Positives: Attacks the pocket from a two- or three-point stance. Has a strong upper body and uses his arms to shed blocks. Uses his athleticism, quickness and surprising leverage to beat lineman around the corner on a speed rush. Effective stutter-step and swim move for change-up rush moves. Good lateral agility to penetrate the line when twisting with the defensive tackle. Keeps his eyes in the backfield, using length and large hands to knock down passes. Has fluid hips and can drop into coverage quickly for his size. Transitions and accelerates out of his backpedal. Shows great awareness in man coverage and is physical running with tight ends. Stays patient in contain on the back side. Able to spin off blocks and find the ballcarrier in run support. Owns the balance to close quickly on the quarterback with a good burst. Very strong wrap-up tackler, but his upper body strength allows him to get away with arm tackles. Chases down plays that bounce to the outside when his motor is running.

Negatives: Has a very inconsistent motor. Not very explosive off the line and tends to try to get penetration using finesse rather than strength. Plays too high at times, gets stood up at the line. Does not show regular aggression as a pass rusher and often seems indecisive. Struggles to avoid cut blocks. Does not run his legs while engaged. Spin move is ineffective when pass rushing

First of all he is projected as a late 5th rd prospect and an absolute steal at that. As far as stiffnes as reported by a few posters, that is totaly off. He acording to reports as stated above has fluent hips and an ability to cover beyond most top OLB picks. His only draw back is his inconsistant play which may be remidied by good coaching. He certanly has the skills and is well worth a chance in the 5th rd. I have him at pick 156, 7 picks below his projected slot of 163.

I noticed his measurable's as well. Like the above poster said, his knock isn't being stiff. It's his weakness @ the POA. Alot of reports I've read refer to his inability to get leverage and just not being strong enough. He has room on his frame to add weight tho and thus could be a project on the cheap.

But as of now, This guy gets blown off more lines than Charlie Sheen...BOOM!
:D
