Observations From Being At The Bears Game

I sit right behind the Pats bench and watch the players. Stuff you can't see on TV. I'll leave off the obvious that's covered elsewhere.

This was one of the LOUDEST most continuous cheering crowds I can remember from either stadium. Kudos.

Also, this time the red seats (yeah, I'm a big red seat critic) were filled the entire game. No steping inside for chablis and quiche this game. Filled.

Brady spends most of his off-field time alone. Often walks to the end of the D bench and sits alone. That's when he's not warming up. Gets real intense. Does not look at the crowd (I'm 35 feet away) and only hangs with players when the game is pretty much a W. The guy is possessed. Yes, he IS big on a quick congrats to each member of the O after a TD series.

Testaverde stands next to and talks to Cassell. Only. No Josh, no BB. ALL game. No discussions with Josh advising him on plays, no 'tips' to Brady during the game. None. Testaverde has little IF ANY at all game input to Brady or the coaches.

In contrast BB spends LOTS of time showing the faxed D alignment photos to the DL, every game. Lots of discussion with BB doing 80% of the talking. The only player I ever noticed all season seeking out BB several times for discussion was Seau. Oh well.

Sey has one big ass plastic thingy on his elbow/arm. Looks massive.

Lots of Bears fans & same with Jets fans. Man, how do they get the great front row seats behind the Pats bench? Seems like the same good seats are available for the enemy every game.

It was a sonofa B time geting out after the game. Everyone stayed to the end.

I thought the crowd was really into the game for the first time in a long time. Were they passing out drugs before the game?.

No question that the team and the stadium went WILD with Brady's 11 yd juke-run. Brady also joked that he'd pass on a few tips to Maroney.

I don't have an explanation why Gillette sounded so much louder this game other than the 200 seats (red) were fully occupied all game. A first. Why, I don't know other than Da Bayiz skunked us in '86 and maybe they're viewed as the likely NFC SB opponent.

But can you say with 100% certainty that Vinny isnt calling the plays?
How do you know that he hasnt developed telepathy?
Maybe he had a microchip implanted in his brain this fall (thats why we didnt sign him until now) that transmits all of his thoughts to BB, Brady nad McDaniel?????????

That seems to be the standard of the Vinny convesation from what I read last week. He is running the show until you can PROVE that there is zero chance he could be in any way.

After all, think about it. Bill Belechick, perhaps the best mind in all of the NFL, has hired, coached up, and is still instructing his hand picked OC. Then one day he realizes the LEAST cerebral, worst decision making QB in NFL history is available to come in and show this inept franchise all of the marvelous ideas that led to him losing more NFL games than any QB in history.
Doesnt it make sense that the winningest coach would accept that the losingest QB knows more than him?

I would bet a lot of money that Vinny is closer to not even understanding the offense than he is to designing one or calling plays.

Maybe it does make sense? Vinny spent an entire career not understanding how to make decisions as a QB so he has compiled all of the plays that failed with him at QB, given them to brady, and now they all work.

What? Now this is ridiculous. CLEARLY, Vinnie has been the brains behind this entire dynasty. Why even when he was with the Jets he was secretly constructing gameplans and faxing them to Charlie Weis. He even gave some tips to Belichick about the defensive scheme. In fact I heard he was mostly responsible for the brilliant defensive scheme against the Colts in the 2004 playoffs. Vinnie himself called the plays on the final drive in Superbowl 36. Belichick and Weiss wanted to play for overtime, but Vinnie said lets go win the game now.

That was just an awesome experience for my 1st game at Gillette. Could've done without the turnovers, but a win is a win.

I was pleased with the entire experience. We got there mega-early to take everything in (we're talking 12:00, which is pretty early without anyone to tailgate with!). Spent some time watching Fox, did a few laps around the stadium and tailgating lots, hit up the ProShop, and then made it in to secure sweet standing room seats (first row, right in front of the scoreboard.) I was expecting more of a dull, lazy crowd from what I had heard, but people were into it all game. The crowd got loud not only on 3rd down, but throughout the entire game. Leaving the game, traffic was pretty bad, but I'll take it for a win.

Overall, it capped off a great 4 day weekend trip.

Sounded good from 5000 miles away, on the radio. Thought I'd punched in the wrong game on my NFL Field Pass and had gotten the Chiefs game. Sounded like an Arrowhead crowd !!
