Hate to say this, but Heinz field is the worst field in the league. Bar none.

Agreed, heinz field is garbage. Makes for some interesting games though. That 3-0 MNF game the field completely changed the game.

Personally I have never seen so many turf injuries as I saw in the last Super Bowl. Jerry Jones was so obsessed with making money that he forgot take care of his players' health. If you want your team to succeed then you design it for grass from the ground up. If you don't care about the health of the players and all you care about is money and prissy fans who like the antiseptic looks of turf then you lay down green asphalt.

The Cowboys are screwed; every year it will be the same refrain; "We had a great team but had too many injuries." And the 18 game schedule will make it worse; I suspect that JJ is a big proponent of 18 game schedule.

I noticed the same thing, lots of guys came up lame or injured from pretty tame looking falls or tackles. That turf must have concrete under it.

It's too bad the pats couldn't put in a grass field that could last the season. Maybe have a lighting system like they do in those grow houses to keep it growing all winter...and keep the soccer people off of it.

I think they could but they would have to come up with a system to cover the field when used for soccer and concerts and other events so that the Patriots are the only team to use the grass. The field survived when it was strictly Patriots but did not when turned into multi-use. They also lost their head greens keeper in some sort of spat (multi-use disagreement?) and he was supposed to be the best in the business.

Grass would be great for those discount aging vets they seem to love. But it is more bucks and the Patriots are pretty tight...

You do realize that the Cowboys played on that all season and didn't have an outrageous number of injuries, yes? Neither did the other teams who played on it.

Sorry, but you just don't know what you are talking about. You didn't after the SB. You didn't in the 2 other threads you started on this topic. And others besides myself have told you that you're wrong. Yet you ignore them as well.

The biggest factor is injuries and it's not just coming down hard on artificial stuff, hard surfaces hammer the knees. The super bowl was rediculous with those shoulder injuries in a row, knocking players out of the biggest game.

We are starting to see more artificial surfaces in soccer at the lower league levels to beat the winter (lower league teams not having under soil heating). They are good for getting games on, maybe renting out, basically worth the cost to lay them for the increased revenue and that will always win.

Astroturf had little to no padding under the top layer. The stuff that they are using in Dallas has 4-5 inches of "padding" under it. Now, I don't know how it reacted to the cold and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they didn't put any heating elements in the ground to keep it from freezing.

I watch what happens on the field when a player hits and don't swallow what the turf pimps tell me. There is some unnatural love of turf by fans that is hard to understand. Is it the clean uniforms?
