This guy was a beast and a 3 time pro bowl defensive end just a few years ago then has fallen on a few bad years....Would he fit here in the 3-4?

Maybe worth a look.....?

My perception is that he has been playing all 4-3 1 gap in Chicago. Plus his production has gone down for 3 consecutive years.

Worth a look but not chompin' at the bit to get him in here.

I'm a HUGE fan of his personally, but I don't know much about him as a player, I'd love to bring him over for a look.

I could see him ending up in Carolina since they need DT help and he's familiar with Rivera's system from their time together in Chicago.

He was the only DT drafted ahead of Vince Wilfork, if I remember correctly, so obviously people saw something they liked.

However, I believe persistent injuries are a big reason for his decline in performance. How often does someone rebound from that kind of situation?

Without making another thread it appears the Cowboys will not be retaining DL Marcus Spears unless he takes a big pay cut.

I'd be interested in taking a look at either him or Spears for one of our DE openings.

Ty Warren, Wilfork and Harris would make a pretty nice run defense for the pats

One of these guys, a high draft pick + mid/late rd pick, the possible retaining of G.Warren, and the addition of returning injured players ala Ty Warren, Brace, Pryor, and Wright, and this D line isn't looking too shabby at all.

Actually could be looking very positively at the position. I'd be rather excited.

(that's what's great about being a NEP fan, even the 'huge' and obvious needs can be solved with a draft pick or 2, and some returning injured guys :) )

You could say the exact same thing about the offensive line, with the same reasoning.

Bring on the effing season, and let's get a deal done already! I'm already convinced that we're going to be improved in the CB spot, improved in the front 7, and just fine on the O-line and at RB/WR. I must be having a rare super-optimistic moment, because it seems like these problems aren't too bad when you consider the returning injured guys, + the addition of draft picks and young talent.

When Harris was drafted, nobody was looking at him as 3-4 material, I'm not sure why that would change.

Here's a different approach. Sign Pat Williams. Minnesota doesn't seem interested in resigning him. Move Wilfork to DE and let Williams play the nose.

Until there is a CBA this is all moot....
