Anyone have any insight as to who might see some more playing time now, Alexander, Woods, or Mays? Obviously TBC's gotta step up now and Don Davis will probably get in some but what about the young guys? I'd really like to see us start grooming someone to play some ILB for us...

But they need to start drafting guys who can play in the middle. Or sign a FA. Right now it's Bruschi and Vrabel and that's it. Maybe Mays?

Unlike defensive back and O-line, the Pats don't have much of a shadow roster at LB. The Pats worked out two veteran inside linebackers during training camp - Orlando Huff and Chris Claiborne - but each is now with the Cardinals and Giants, respectively. The following is a list of linebackers the Pats cut in training camp:

Monty Biesel: now with the Cardinals
Chad Brown: now with the Steelers
Jeremy Mincey: 49ers practice squad
Freddie Roach: Lowe's

No doubt Pioli's rolodex is thicker than that. However, going off the most recent dealings of this team, the thing to do now that Seau's on IR is either:

1) sign Mincey off the 49er's practice squad to our active roster
2) bring Antwan Spann back to the active roster, and sign Roach to the PS

Or maybe Ted Johnson and Roman Phifer are feeling frisky.

The guy played with a ton of heart and was a leader. The concern was that he would freelance, but as far as I saw he played within the system and did hios job. I hope the team plays well down the stretch and get him a ring (which he will have earned for his play this year. I would love to see him come back for another year, if he wants.

Yeah, if there's one player you're never going to see on the field again from pats1's list, its Dat.

If there's a second player from that list that will never come back, its Mike Maslowski. He reportedly has a degenerative bone-on-bone condition in his left knee. Terrell Davis-esqe. Pats brought him in just over a year ago and nothing came of it. He hasn't played a game in over three years.
