Gabe Carimi says he’s the best tackle in the draft | ProFootballTalk

I have been hopeing for him to fall to the Pats this whole season. It appears like BB has already spoken to him other than in passing. When asked if the Pats have contacted him he responded with the Pats company line that he could not coment on it and to ask the Pats, But he had no problem comenting on an interview with the Ravens. Unfortunately with him moveing up the draft boards he may have to be taken with our first pick. This would eliminate the need to pay Light the sizeable contract he may be seeking on his last chance at a big contract.. This would free up more cash flow for the Mankins contract. Haveing two young massive and mobile swing tackles on the roster along with Mankins would go a long way twards the rebuilding of the OL. this along with a pick up of Pouncey,or Ijalana,or Wisniewski, or Watkins in the second rd. would get us as close to a completly rebuilt young OL as we could hope to get this season.

In rechecking some draft boards it looks like all 5 quality OT's will be off the board well before our pick at 28, this may be forceing our hand to go OT with our first pick. With any luck we will not be picking this high in the first round for a while.

I know he's been injured and wasn't awesome before he got hurt, but we do still have Nick Kaczur.

If a CBA is finished by some miracle by the 3rd March and Free Agency opens and we do lose Light, we do still have Kaczur if all the Tackles went off the board early.

This is the most intriguing draft in a long time, I wanted Carimi at 28, but I doubt he gets there (depending on tomorrows workout).

Just because we spoke with him doesn't mean we actually have interest in him, classic Sun Tzu move: feign interest in somewhere you have no intention of going and let the enemy garrison his forces where you won't attack, let other teams think more highly of a player because we're talking to him, which makes it more likely the player you do want falls to you.

Perfect example: Tim Tebow :lol2:

Mankins is NOT gonna happen. It's the agent as much as the player. When you negotiate in the press, deals generally don't get given to you by the Pats. Brady kept his mouth shut and ended up being rewarded with a huge contract. Wilfork as well.

And Gostkowski, who signed his tender, and got the second-biggest K contract ever. . . .

Lest we forget the crown jewel..... Pat White!

Here's the real irony: not only did the Patriots bring both White and Edelperson in for a visit, so did the LOLphins. :singing:

Well we should definitely draft him to keep the Patriots' monopoly on Jews in the NFL - Krafts, Edelman (just in case he turns out to be Jewish), and now Gabe.

Are you sure he's Jewish? His name sounds Italian, who are generally Catholic.

Check the link.

He seems like a good guy, I wish him luck but I don't want us taking a tackle early, I like Willie Smith in the 3rd-4th round.

Sounds like he takes his commitments seriously, at any rate.

Carimi ran a 5.12 40. Fastest so far of all OTs.

I don't think I'd reach for one of the top guys. None of them are elite prospects, and there seems to be more depth to this draft than stars. And I think the interior line is a bigger need.
