Was watching Total Access earlier this evening and caught a nice little nugget from Mayock. He started to say Watt was the "best 5-technique" he'd seen in what was implied a very long time. He then kind of stuttered and said he (Watt) is much better a prospect than Jackson was. Food for thought.

Hop aboard the bandwagon! I'll have a comprehensive eval of Watt up by this time tomorrow.

I'm still worried about the agent thing, but I've had him as my top Pats DE for at least two months now. Of course, it seems like the Pats may never have their chance to draft him.

Yeah, the agent thing concerns me as well. That said, if someone gets wood for Newton or AJ Green going off the board freaks someone out there's going to be some very good players dropping. Realistically there's five 34 teams and one 43 team that loves length in Jax ahead of NE. If Watt makes it past Dallas, I would leapfrog Miami and Jax to go get Watt.

Who did Watt select for an agent?

Wisconsin is this year's Florida! Watt and Carimi are Cunningham and Spikes!

I just hope Watt doesn't climb too high by draft time. I would like to stay @ #17 and still be confident of getting him. Mayock's talk of "maybe top ten" for Watt made me cringe a little.

What Jackson are you referring to?

The "maybe top ten" is contingent upon Dallas. I'm just kind of counting on Jones to do something ******ed, though. I'd love to see them take Amukamara, in which case I'd trade the obligatory 3rd and just get my damn guy. Take Houston at 28 then trade down and out on your way into future riches.

Heh!! I've been ensconced in a very comfortable seat on the Watt Train since Brother Bunting starting singing his praises back in October, as I'm sure you have!!

I've been chewing over whether or not I want:

Phil Taylor
Vince Wilfork
Kenrick Ellis

~ or ~

Cameron Heyward
Vince Wilfork
JJ Watt

...up front, or even a combination of the two. Taylor and Ellis both have character concerns, of course.

I've liked Watt for a while now. Been mocking him at #17 the past several times. His length and athleticism for the position just can't be taught. Could turn into a very good player for us.

I'm very curious to see what Watt's actual weight is. He doesn't strike me like the kind of guy who can play the 4 technique - which is really a must for a Pats DE.

not enough sand in the pants. Reminds me of mike wright..quick and disruptive. For some reason others here said they can't see it.

Christian Ballard will be the pick in the late 2nd, I believe.

Very good player, but can't see him fitting in a 3-4 as anything other than a sub rusher. He would seem to have much more value to a 4-3 team.

Is anyone familiar with Jarvis Jenkins out of Clemson? I've heard his name throw out as a potential DE for us.

Yes, he's got the measurables and looked stout at the point of attack in the games I saw. I like him better than the much ballyhooed Phil Taylor for consistency.

Yes. He's on my board as a later Pats option, as the possibility does exist for BB to double dip at the DE position -- one early, and one later.
