2 fumbles in 2 weeks?? The one yesterday was almost a game killer.. I mean Doug Gabrial has been mr invisible, since the Jets fiasco, its time for more Maroney... Dillion is nice near the goal line, but like today puts it on the ground way too much..

You don't bench veterans like Corey Dillon...WTF with this?

By the same logic Ben Watson should be benched...but he came through today when we needed him. Benching veterans has a great effect on locker room chemistry and leadership. Cut Dillon's carries down just a bit...sure...bench him?.... like I said WTF? We need Dillon as much now as ever.

If we benched them all when they fumble Sean we wouldn't be able to field a team. I guess you didn't notice Maroney's fumble.

It's pretty obvious the way his role has continued to diminish that Gabriel's woes stretch far beyond that fumble.

Meanwhile BB was pretty ticked overall with his team despite the win because ball security was a major point of emphasis this week because what they did to us is a big part of the Bears regular defense. I think in part because this entire offense continues to struggle to just do it's job some of those fumbles were the result of a few players trying to do too much rather than mere carelessness. Caldwell's and Dillon's being examples of fumbling because you were trying too hard to get a few more yards.

The past two games he's disappeared for quarters at a time. It seems like the guy is at the end of the road unless he has some injury

Bench Corey Dillon…….are you serious!? That’s insane. The man was fighting for that key first down and trying to drive his legs and basically laying out his body fighting to get it. It’s ironic that his second and third efforts allowed the team that leads the league in strips to rip it free. No one wants to win more than CD. There is no way you even consider benching him. Come on!

No. He had one hand on the ball and away from his body. We already were in FG range and coming short of the first still would have run the clock down under 1 minute. The play was stupid. But not as stupid as benching him for it.

I completely understand the importance of holding onto the ball in that situation. But it’s hard for me to fault a player who lays his body out time after time to win. I completely understand the importance of holding onto the ball in that situation.

I think we both agree that Corey Dillon is an intricate part of this team and the thought of benching him is absolutely ludicrous.

Every fumble was by a key Pat play maker, including Brady, who recovered his own. Who are you going to bench? Let's just admit that even after preparing for the Bears strip happy, ball-popping tackles, the Pats were taking to school by the Bears D. The Bears are very effective in their use of hands and helmets during tackles. Corey lays it on the line every week with some punishing runs of his own, talk of benching him for the fumble is just silly.

Agree with everyone else here. I woulod not make any benching decisions based on fumbles in yesterday's game, because we would have no team to field. And how couldbench Dillon and NOT bench Watson for the same reason?

I also agree that too many guys were trying too hard to make the big play. They wanted the game bad. We ended up winning, so it's time to breathe a sigh of relief, learn from this, and move on.

My eyes could have been lying to me, but didn't Maroney fumble just after Corey had broken a long run to put us in scoring position??????

Sorry my bad, just would have given the ball to Maroney, I guess I should have rephrased it... Maybee its time to cut his carries in half, not benching him..

We need to start benching posters.

Well., Maroney fumbled too, so we'd have to bench him.

I suppose we'd have to run Faulk up the middle like we did in the Denver playoff last year.

And his name is spelled Dillon. one I. Dillon.

No you see that was the evil Maroney not the good Maroney. Original Poster is correct in saying we should bench Dillon, but we have to make sure it is the evil Dillon and not the good Dillon. See how simple it is? If we just bench all the evil players we'll have a cakewalk to the Superbowl.

Sean, I agree with Ray Clay. We need to start benching people like you that post WAY TOO MANY stupid fanboy threads without any basis in reality. Go to another website if you want to post silly threads every day, or twice a day.

You need to stop posting new threads unless you actually have something remotely intelligent to say about the game of football, which you clearly don't fully understand yet.

How old are you, anyway? You clearly have not been a fan for much of your adult life, if you are an adult.

Near useless post here, but I had to "correct" a guy on that other board (Pat's Planet) who managed to spell Corey's name three different ways in the same post! Dillon, Dillion, and Dillin. Said he never was much of a speller. OK, but can't we at least be consistent when we're wrong?

On the subject, as I said in another thread, the Bears go after the ball, trying to strip, or even punch the ball out, and successfully, better than any team I can remember. Sometimes when a team does that, they get burned and the other team gets a long gain because too much effort went into the strip vs. the tackle. But, that didn't happen last night. Finally, can't blame most of the bad pass catching on the Bears efforts. That was all Pats. I hope it doesn't happen, but I fear the season could end, in the playoffs, because our pass catching corps is not up to snuff.

Bench Dillon? Dillon 4.2 YPC, Maroney 4.0 YPC, Last week's fumble was as much Brady's fault as Dillon. Brady was credited with the fumble. Give me a break.

The fumble yesterday is just the latest excuse for the weekly Maroney over Dillon thread. It's getting old. We are a two back team. And guess what? We will probably be a two back team next year too.

Typical Sean Salisbury wannabe - trying to create something out of a non-issue.

Sean you are further embarassing yourself...

Reche Caldwell made perhaps the stupidest play of the night when he recovered a fumble...I allowed myself too breathe once he recovered it but then coughed it up on his own the very next second when he should have falled down. Maybe Reche should be benched? No...you dont do that, because he is one of our best recievers at the moment who is playing his best right now.

Laurence Maroney, FUMBLED awfully close to the goal line. Maybe we should chop his head off and call him a bust for it? NUT made a good point when he mentioned Dillon's run plus the penalty that was added on.

Thats 14 points we let slip because of those fumbles close to the endzone.

How about Watson? He fumbled twice, three times in the last two games. Why dont we bench him while we're at it? Again...no we dont do that because those fumbles were merely superb heads up plays by the Bears defenders.

I am a supporter of all four of the guys who commited turnovers tonight not mentioning Brady since often his INT's arent his fault.

Sean, please...I cant even refrain from calling you an idiot right now. Your countless stupid threads are pissing me off.

Maroney hardly did anything breath taking tonight himself, give Corey the ball inside the redzone any day and he'll score a TD, both can. You dont know what your talking about Sean...you rarely know what you're talking about. Your starting to sound like the ARCHIVES. He found the ideal time to pop up last week and start bashing Dillon because of a not so great game. Now I could easily find a number of games in which Maroney played BADLY in and start calling him a bust but that would be ridiculous and STUPID. Just like the crap you are posting.
