Green Ellis
Woodhead
Williams
Rookie
Fullback / Faulk

Would be a sexy combo of backs.

The chart would have Williams sitting on the top as the number 1 comfortably. He can break out for a TD on any given run.

Relatively expensive rb with a foot injury? No thanks.

Young legs in every draft.

And, yet, the best the Patriots have found that way has been Maroney/BJGE.

Re: Panthers tag Kalil, not Willams or Johnson

Too expensive, foot injury, and his game is based on speed. He's turning 28 and once he loses his speed his game will be nothing. CJ's only 25 and he looks slower.

Johnson's significantly smaller, and he has seasons with 251, 358 and 316 carries. Williams has carried 121, 144, 273, 216 and last year's injury-caused 87 carries. There's nothing in his career that says he can't be extremely successful as a tandem back going forward for a couple more seasons, presuming doctors find his foot to be fully recovered.

Re: Panthers tag Kalil, not Willams or Johnson

I confess to watching not a single Panther game last year.

I'd love to sign Williams, but I don't suppose Johnson could play in a 3-4 system?

Re: Panthers tag Kalil, not Willams or Johnson

D. Will would be a nice pickup as long as he's healthy. Great little tandem between BJGE and D. Williams. We can dream can't we? Depends on the $$ of course.

Re: Panthers tag Kalil, not Willams or Johnson

Color me interested. I'd give him a deal like Dante Stallworth. If he has a great year, let him opt out. Player option. Gives him a chance to re-establish his worth on a very good team.

Are you serious?? lol Re-establish himself? Williams is a STUD. Call me crazy, but not many teams are going to ask him to re-establish himself.

A STUD with one FULL season of playing 16 games and over 1500yds in 2008. Since then he's played a grand total of 19 games over 2 seasons. NFL is what have you done for me lately league, and injury prone 28 yr old RB's who are not a threat to catch balls out of backfield either are not in high demand, and nor can be called STUD. On the other hand, a guy like Steven Jackson is a durable STUD who can run and catch, ofcourse not a FA

Honestly, Johnson seems more intriguing to me. How often do young 10+ sack guys come on the market? Any thoughts on how he'd transition to rush linebacker?

I'd rather have Kalil on the Pats than Williams. That should tell you all you need to know about my opinion of him.

And BJGE was undrafted!

Kalil is supposed to be a terrific center. So I'm not really sure what your point is.

Hopefully the CBA gets worked out soon, because DeAngelo Williams would look fantastic in a Pats uniform.

More about positional value than anything. I see the value of a very good center to be more than an aging but injury prone and at times very good HB.

That's a fair point. I think Kalil would be a pretty significant upgrade over Koppen, and that in and of itself would likely have a marked effect on the success of the ground game.
