Hey all,

My name is Judge Smails and I run http://www.lions-fans.com (Yes, there are a few Detroit Lions fans left).

If you guys would be interested in some Q&A or some light hearted banter, stop on by. I will stick around here this week as well.

Trust me, we are not douchey or a group of glue sniffers like the Bears fans, we are a pretty cynical group.

Here's to not a complete Pats blow out next week. Cheers.

Thanks for the invite. Like the site, and particularly the strapline for the official Lions at Pats discussion: "Oh **** are we in trouble."

I'm impressed you're still backing your team (although we all know that once we back a team, there's no turning back) as I have to say, I was embarrassed watching the Thanksgiving game as it looked to me like the Lions gave up on it pretty early on, which is unforgivable.

Enjoy the week, and the banter.

(Our old friend Fin Nasty is over there stirring up trouble)

Hah, FinNasty has been pretty cool. He keeps trying to pick us up off the floor saying things like, "You guys played good in the 1st quarter!"

I basically said that is like telling your buddies that a chick liked you at the bar for 5 minutes but then she kneed you in the nuts and called you an ***hole.

Not much redemption there.

Maybe a complete blowout would help grease the rails for the fire Millen movement. It's just mindnumbing that they would need any more grease after Thursday.

Do the Lions have cheerleaders? If so, you may want to post photos of the "best' on our cheerleader thread.

Words out he is already gone, but trust me when I say, Ford will probably give him an extension for losing out this season since we will get a top 3 pick.

The big problem is Ford is making HUGE money on the team, there is a waiting list for season tickets, fans are passionate about the team. This is a big football area (65k at Ford Field, 107k at Michigan, 85k at MSU).

As a Detroiter, I have to say Lions fans are most certainly a group of glue sniffers, for exactly the reason you mention - the Honolulu Blue's sterling attendence record. Despite years and years of mediocrity, accompanied by times of cluelessness, and most recently followed by almost incomprehensible incompetence, people do not shut up about the Lions. Ever. Its worse than "da bearz."

It almost falls under the purview of "any publicity is good publicity." People pay very good money in this town to show up at Ford Field dressed the same color as the empty seats just to boo ex-players and chant "Fire Millen." Then they leave midway through the third quarter. You know what? As long as the Lions are the ONLY operation making the Ford Family money, they are not going to change a goddamn thing. So maybe they'll "lay off" Millen? Unless all the stars and planets align and they put the FieldTurf on pneumatic jacks so the opponent is always playing uphill, the Lions will only ever aspire to mediocrity under the next blockhead they pick to run that sorry operation. That means a playoff win or two in the next 50 years. In the wildcard round. Maybe.

When the Pistons were bad, people did not talk about the Pistons. When the Tigers were bad (and they were very bad, for a very long time) people did not talk about the Tigers. They certainly did not pay lots and lots of money for tickets and officially sanctioned merchandise. Hell, they gave that **** away. I remember going to sports camps when I was younger and being given unsellable equipment - Pistons basketballs and Tigers caps. Not with the Lions. People will go into debt to get season tickets. They consider it an "investment." Must be working too, cause I've never heard of anyone starving scalping Lions tickets. Its like Green Bay, except in Green Bay the public owns and to some extent operates that team. Here we indirectly subsidize the production of inferior American automobiles.

Remember when Millen called Morton a "***got" when Morton was on his way out of town? Maybe its just the quality of people I hear football talk from, but it seemed to me people in this area were appaulding Millen on that one. Glue-sniffers every last one of them. The only way people would stop paying attention to this soap opera is if they moved the team.

They are dead to me. D-E-A-D. As a sporting event, they are a sham and as dead as the WWF. I hope and pray that eventually, if enough people do as I do and ignore them, maybe they'll go away.

hey man welcome..as long as we dont have stupid fans coming in like bearmike or those dolphin fans..then we can enjoy the game and time before the game. we dont need negative talk and non sense. welcome here non the less..GL on Sunday(well u know i dont mean it ..lol)

hope for no injuries and a clean game

Unoriginal,

You are 100% correct my friend.

I have been preaching that the fans should stop showing up the games for years now which has gone upon deaf ears.

The Lions are now like the Chicago Cubs, a circus side show so to speak.
Either that, or Michigan is a crazy football town and will go regardless.

welcome aboard, lions fans. Thanks for starting the thread.

Of all the fans in the NFL, I think I sympathize with the Lions the most. I've never been to Detriot but I saw on TV a billboard that said "Detroit Lions: rebuilding since 1957" or something like that. Pats fans have not always had it so good and we know how it can be so very, very frustrating.

I see NEM has already infected his way onto the board ;) .

Went to an early mock draft site and they had you guys picking a receiver #1.

Lots of posters here want to pick a receiver in the 1st every year too.

How's that strategy working for you guys?

:bricks: :enranged: :beersign:

Build in the trenches. Bottom line. Millen went backwards and the team got set back 5-6 years because of it.

WDFN put that billboard up.
They also did one that said, "Not in this MILLENium"
They also organized the "Orange Out" last year where the fans would wear an orange shirt to the Lions/Bengals game (which was weak IMHO)
