Baseball baseball and baseball up until the day before the draft. Screw them; I get better Patriots off-season coverage on WFAN (A.M. 660 for all you in southern MA and RI)--I am serious.

The Sports Hub is hockey and bball and baseball. You just know that Gresh and Zo would love to talk football but their bosses will not let them. At least we can expect some pre-draft coverage.

As a fan of both sports I find spring training talk much more compelling than "3-months-before-the-draft" talk. But that's just me.

1ST Day of full spring training was like yesterday ... duh!!!

I don't get the OP's perplexity as to why WEEI is talking about the red sox 24/7 right now....in fact I find it downright IGNORANT! The RED SOX are the HOT topic now baby!!! The Pats went down in flames back in Jan and their time is OVER for now.....The Red Sox had one of the most successful FA in many years.....especially with bringing two BIG name offensive weapons into the fold, and getting many others BACK and healthy for the upcoming season (Pedroia, Ellsbury, Youk).........and having all their pitchers coming in HEALTHY and in some of the best shape of their careers...........AND WEEI SHOULDN'T TALK ABOUT IT??? and should spend all their time talking about the Pats upcoming draft and a season that is 7 months away if the CBA is worked out? Cmon dude GET A CLUE!!! Sox, Celts and even Bruins are a more realistic and popular story right now than the Pats are........

Is it lame that listen to PFW in progress that air on Tuesdays and Thursdays? That's probably the only legit Pats talk you'll hear for months. It is the offseason, what do you expect.

WEEI is all about Baseball, but it's tough to fault them right now.

Sirius 124, for a $98 per year subscription you can listen to all football all year round. Great shows any time you choose.

Talking about baseball....at the beginning of spring training?

Unheard of :D

I can't blame you, baseball sucks. If I had a spare bullet and a time machine I'd go back and put it right between the eyes of whoever invented baseball.

NBA all star game, middle of hockey season (plus big Bruins trade), baseball spring training coming up....

what an outrage that nobody is obsessively talking about football right now and the disaster CBA negotiations...

How many "let's sign/draft this guy" discussions can you have right now? Especially with the CBA negotiations blown into sixty bloody parts...

I'm not a Bruins fan, but how can you not like the way they're playing right now? Boatloads of goals, fights, and they've got a legit shot in this weird year.

The Sox had a big offseason, and there's a lot promise. It's a lot easier to talk and speculate about the future than it is to continually lament the past. Also, talking about the future of the NFL right now is like talking about what color paint we're going to have in our moon cottages.

As much as I do not agree with the changes at WEEI.. the reason they are so focused on the Red Sox is two fold; first it is their product as they are the flagship station and they need to pimp it and secondly it is baseball season.

Not sure anywhere in the country right now are you going to get daily draft talk...

I live in South Jersey and get all the Pats news I need with PFW in Progress podcasts. They are usually 3 times a week for 2 hrs at a pop. FYI - there is not a whole lot going on right now so it is a little painful to listen to.

Sure it is the start of Spring Training but WEEI covered the departure of the freaking equipment truck for goodness sake. And it will be the same baseball obsession until mid-November.

I clearly remember (and posted something to this effect last year) that the whole week before the draft it was the sound of crickets on WEEI. Then after the draft we got a few days of D & C complaining (which they do best) about BB drafting a special teams guy in the first round (McCourty) that no one had heard of. Then back to 24/7 baseball crap.

All through the Patriots Training Camp all you will get will be baseball talk no matter how had the Sox suck as they did last year. And the crap continues for the first half of the football season unless something bad happens to the Patriots or BB makes (a perceived) mistake...

When Larry Johnson tried to talk the draft on the weekend he got shouted down. If someone calls D & C about a pre-draft issue he will get mocked. Screw WEEI; time to de-program that key.

Yup, that's just you.

I agree with the OP -- it's that time of year again. Whenever I'm flipping channels on TV or radio and see or hear that fossil Peter Gammons I get the immediate urge to fall into deep slumber.

I can't blame you, baseball sucks. If I had a spare bullet and a time machine I'd go back and put it right between the eyes of whoever invented baseball.

That's funny. Seriously, baseball doesn't have enough action, strategy or physicality to keep me interested. Everyone just stands around, and everyone in the stands is engaged in OT conversation. I don't understand why a more action-oriented sport hasn't evolved to take its place. Professional lacrosse, perhaps?

Are you kidding me? They talk for six months about who will bat 2nd in lineup but can't talk about the draft?. Fred is right, radio in this area sucks. Baseball is a very boring sport and baseball talk is even worse. If someone started a real football oriented show in this area it would destroy the baseball stations(98.5, Weei)

Want a tissue? Fact is the Red Sox are going to get covered. You're not changing that just because you feel like whining about it on a Pats forum.

The anti-Red Sox theme from some of the forum members here is off putting. Yea, let's hear more about if we should sign every guy that was cut or rather than the strongest Red Sox team possibly ever. Good God.

Here's a novel idea: why don't you go spend your time on a Bankofamericasox message board (we even have one here at Patsfans) and leave the off-season football talk to us. The OP and others make a good point. Baseball talk is overemphasized on WEEI because it carries Bankofamericasox games and needs to push advertising concurrently. The Hub is a more balanced station.
