Yup, I think that sequence at the end of the half will be a big boost for his confidence going forward. He hasn't had many chances to really prove himself, and he stepped up.

I love it when a coaches' timeout to ice a kicker just as the play is going off backfires. I think it's a stupid jackass move, yes, I know you CAN do it, but I think it makes you a fu*khead if you do for the very reason we saw today - it has just as good a chance of backfiring as it does of helping you.

The Lovie timeout reminded me of Vrabels timeout last year in Atlanta which backfired with a 50 yard field goal as the half expired.

The dude has a leg for sure. Although the kick was barely good, it should give him some confidence and the coaching staff some confidence in him.

I know, I thought taht was so funny. It missed, but they were so busy freaking out about the ample distance, they forgot to mention it was wide right. Or they didn't notice. But I had to explain to everyone who didn't see the kick that it was actually not good.

I think Buck said something like, "that would have been good from 60," and I remember thinking, "but it wasn't even good from 52."

Then I just assumed I wasn't seeing it right and that it actually was good. Glad to see from this thread that these old eyes aren't failing yet.

The "good" signal was very weird. It was almost like the ref walked up to the Bears player to be in his face when he signaled it good. The Bears player must have been jawing "no good" or something and the ref walked right up to him. The other ref clearly didn't see whether it was good or not and had to wait for his partner, so it was a weird situation where there was no call.

It was a huge moment in the game, and I loved the little smile on his face when the to was called.

I don't think you can exaggerate the impact of that field goal in such a tight game, both on lifting the team as we went in a td up and also on Gostkowski himself.

Kicking's such a confidence business, and that will have done him the world of good. It was just a shame we didn't give him the opportunity to kill the game at the death when Corey Dillon fumbled.

But, still, great clutch kick.
