Damn that would be awesome.
It would definitely be a dream come true to see that
guy swinging away at the Monster.

I did not even need to click on the post to know the player.
In addition, if he changes teams, its obvious who will be the front runner and will pay him major $$$$$$$$$$$ and years. He will be the highest paid athlete in baseball.

he should just stay in St. Louis. there is no sense making baseball more of a mess than it already is. If he went to the Yankees or Red Sox, that would just make a mockery of the game if you ask me.

I don't think the issue is so much the $ per year but the length of the contract he's apparently demanding, but the Sox clearly would be one suitor -- are there many other premier FAs expected after this season?

It would almost be unfair ... but who cares ... :p

Sadly I think their already there, Mega rich owners that don't spend the money but have no problem cashing their luxury tax checks are just as big of a mockey imo.

He's not going to accept being a DH, not happening.

I think you pitch it that he and Gonzalez are going to share 1B and DH duties -- play up the rest angle. If he's getting the $ and the years, I'd be shocked if that were a deal-killer.

He used to be both an outfielder and a third baseman, so the options are there for teams with first baseman.

I would have absolutely no problem with that. Winning beats losing every day in my book.

Money doesn't equal championships. The Yankees of most of the last decade are proof of that.

The Red Sox in general are proof of that.

More money and better players give you a better chance of winning, but with injuries and the number of things that can go both right and wrong for other teams, the fact that the Yankees or Red Sox far outspend other teams doesn't mean they'll be Champions - far from it.

I'd take Pujols in a second with no concern about the quality of a sport that's watered down with too many games and not enough good players in the first place.

It really seems plausible the more you think about it. Granted it probably won't happen, but if it did I would not mind it one bit. We still would be a team that does not just spend money to get players since the reason we would have the money to spend on him would be due to the fact that we had homegrown players to replace guys with big contracts.

He's going to the Yankees. Book it.

He only comes here, I predict, if he can play left field. But if he can than the price will be enormous because the Yanks too wd be involved.

does he want to play left or do you think the Sox would want to move him?

Doesn't make sense to me to pay top dollar for a third first baseman (Youk, Gonzo and Pujols). You will not be able fully use that asset because you already have two (one just got moved to third base).

Where would Carl Crawford play?

He'd be a 1B / DH -- arguably makes him worth less, but if you're willing to pay him $30mm for 10 years, I think you're overpaying him anyway.

(I'm not saying they will, just addressing "issue" of him possibly not accepting a DH role)

Not gonna happen. We just traded for Adrian Gonzalez. If we're going to spend money or assets, I want to get a young ace pitcher. Felix Rodriguez would be my target.
Yanks will give Pujols 350m anyways. There's nobody who can compete with their deep pockets when they feel like getting into the race.
