WalterFootball.com: 2011 NFL Mock Draft

Patriots go with:

Tyron Smith
Justin Houston
Cameron Hayward
Randall Cobb
Daniel Thomas
Jeremy Beal
Davon House
Darius Morris

Mocking is extremely hard to do without knowing who's going to be here in Free agency and without trading picks, but I'd have to go with:

Muhammad Wilkerson
Justin Houston
Danny Watkins
Jarvis Jenkins
Johnny Patrick
James Carpenter
Delone Carter

based on how that mock plays out, I could see:

Tyron Smith
Muhammed Wilkerson
Mikel Leshoure
Danny Watkins
KJ Wright
Jeremy Beal
Jason Pinkston
Jacquiz Rodgers

It seems that many mocks are moving toward BTA for the patriots with their first pick, at 17 or with a trade down.

Tyron Smith? I'd rather have Carimi

Interesting that there are rumors that he is 305 pounds right now. He must be on one of those USC diets. 280 to 305 in just a few short months? He must train real hard.

I'd go with the following under this scenario:

Rd 1
Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA 17
Muhammad Wilkerson, DE, Temple 28

Rd 2
Benjamin Ijalana, OT/G, Villanova 33
Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia 60

Rd 3
K.J. Wright, OLB, Mississippi State 74
Tim Barnes, C, Missouri 92

Rd 4
Shane Vereen, RB, California 124

Rd 5
Ronald Johnson, WR, USC 156

5 round mock from Walter - 2/16. I hope the Pats go with the following:

17 Tyron Smith T
28 Justin Houston OLB
33 Benjamin Ijalana G
60 Jarvis Jenkins DE
74 K.J. Wright OLB
92 Tim Barnes C
124 Shane Vereen RB

Mocking is hard enough but this year it is impossible!

We'll know more after the combine. As of now, it is not usual to see the same OT projected at 17, 28 and 33, depending on where you look.

And yes, "BTA" is "best OT available".

Keep in mind the patriots have drafted the same type of player for the past 3 years, it has always been a hard working intelligent leader type who loves football and plays for the team not for himself, with how successful they have been with this model, i dont expect this to change. some players are all different and i think the mindset matters more to the patriots than getting the player who has the best physical attributes.

that being said, without actually knowing what these players are like, we can assume that they are all this type of player or none of these types of players, we can throw the model out for mock draft purposes, knowing that it will all probably be futile anyway on draft day.

1a: Cameron Jordan/Ryan Kerrigan/ JJ Watt
1b: Justin Houston/ Muhammad Wilkerson/ BTA
2a: Stefen Wisniewski/ RB

I might consider Justin Houston instead of Ayers, he has a real explosive first step. Houston is more of a weakside player and Ayers strongside.
