Mock Draft Better - Draft Insiders

I am not against taking Ingram as most, and there is no way Watt will be there at 28. Those look like 2 great picks but a LB and a WR...no OL?? If the draft fell like that I would trade 60 and both 3s to get up to take a T at about #30....and take Pouncey with 33. Ingram, Watt, Sherrod and Pouncey would be a killer draft! Cant wait for your annual 7 round mock, hope you have the time to do it up right!

Yeah, seems we'd more likely have to make a choice of either Ingram/Leshoure or Watt at #17. At #28, we might be looking at Heyward or Wilkerson.

Hankerson we'd probably have to take at #33 (if we wanted any WR). Acho may still be available at #60, though we might get better value out of Brooks Reed in that spot.

All in all, not horrible choices, but the placement might be a bit, ummm, wishful.

No thanks on Ingram, bad use of their #17 imo. Watt with the second first is fine with me. Their running game needs supplementation but not a first rounder.

RB and WR in the 1st four? No OL's? Acho may indeed be moving up. Hankerson, a WR, at 60 is pretty aweful given the need at OL. He clearly values Pinkston who he has being picked a couple of picks later. Pickston would be a much better choice tha Hankerson.

Ingram may be the value pick on that board at 17. I would think that Belichick would surely trade down.

17. Ingram
28. Watt
33. Acho (?)
60. Hankerson

I think they reached on at least 2/4, but at least it addresses positions of need.

Ingram is a little bigger ,little faster but more fumbling version of Benny. Is that a enough an upgrade to spend a high pick .?
I think a RB in a 3rd or 4th who can challange the outsides of the defensive perimeter will be better compliment to both danny and benny. if you get ingram then you have to get another guy to do that.

You throw in Heyward with a clean bill of health or Wilkerson to go along with Hankerson and Ingram I'd be ok with that. Watt, meh, I'm really trying to like. Does he really seem like someone who is going to step in and start from day 1? Anyway, I'm flexible with who they draft and why. Move up? Fine. Trade back? Fine. Whatever makes the team better.

Brooks or Carter seem much better fits than Acho.

I agree. I was higher on Watt initially, just because I like the way he plays. Technically, though, I've always thought he'd be a project - maybe not quite a redshirt, but with a ways to go before he'd be a stalwart. And, of course, I liked him earlier when he was still projected to go in the second half of round two. At #17? Not so much. Though I still catch myself trying to justify picking him there.

At #17 give me Justin Houston or Anthony Castonzo over Mark Ingram. Pats can find a good RB later in the draft. I’d love to see J.J. Watt drop to #28 but don't think so. Acho at #33 is much too early for him. I don’t see Pats taking WR in first 4 rounds.

I will be very disappointed if their choices become a reality.

I'm not sure the issue is the actual picks. I think many more would have accepted your basic draft with one change. OL is much more important in the draft that WR. I just can't see the 2nd round value of a young wide receiver who would likely sit on the bench for a year.

17 DE Watt
28 RB Ingram
33 OT Carimi (or pick your alternate OL)
60 OLB Acho

Get Watt and Acho out and replace them with Pouncey and BA T in that order along with acquiring a passrusher via trade or Free agency and Im fine with it.

it start at the trenches....can't lose....in bill we trust

I know most will probably disagree....but I LIKE INGRAM.....for some reason I have a feeling he will be a stud, he just seems to be a great talent....and although he does not have that ''game-breaker'' speed, former RB's such as Emmit Smith show that blazing speed is not always necessary in a stud running back.

It sure does help if you have Erik Williams,Larry Allen,Mark Stepnoski,Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei blocking up front.

Gotta Disagree. Pinkston is a horrible fit for the Pats as an OG. Hankerson, on the other hand, would be an amazing fit at WR. And teamed with Welker, Price, Tate, and Edleman, would be devastating.

Now, that being said. I don't think that Acho is a good fit for the Pats 3-4. I think that Watt would have to be taken at 17 because I don't see him lasting to 28.

Ingram is a waste of a pick at that point. Pouncey would be better.

Watt, Kerrigan, Watkins, and Hankerson would be a killer draft.

i dont know how you call ingram a "waste of a pick" at 17. the first round is where u get your playmakers. and outside of brady, our offense has none. dont get me wrong, i love gronk, welker, tate, hernandez and even price, but lets face it, they arnt elite players. would love to see us have the balls to trade up and grab AJ Green. we wont. but i like ingram at 17, would def help take pressure off brady if he can produce. also, Saban coached Ingram, and Saban and BB are buddies....

i respect Mayocks opinion much more than Kiper or McShay. He says there are at least 10 possible 1st round DE in this draft. there is one first round talent RB (Ingram). Get the best RB in the draft, then grab a DE with the 2nd pick. why draft a guy at 17 when you can get the same value at 28?

I think Leshoure would be better for the pats than ingram......the one big advantage Leshoure has is his ability to pass block and crushing blitzers. Brady has never had this from his 1st and 2nd down backs (BJGE and Maroney both suck at this)

Well, I CAN and DO call Ingram a waste of a pick at that point because the O-LINE is a much more serious need. Light is a UFA. Kaczur will be 32 and hasn't been healthy in forever. Neal will be 35 in October and he can't stay healthy either. Koppen was pretty bad most of the season. Connolly and Wendell are Jags... they were adequate at best but could definitely be upgraded over.

Without a good O-line, Ingram won't take any pressure off Brady. On the contrary. The running and passing games will both suffer.

Gronkowski might not be an ELITE player yet, but he was a rookie and did an amazing job. And I expect him to continue to progress into an ELITE player.

Well, first of all, you seem to have fallen victim to the normal Draft Guru trap. They lump all the DEs into one pot, with it not mattering whether they are 3-4 DEs or 4-3 DEs. There is a significant different between the 2. There are not 10 1st round DEs who fit the 3-4 mold. There are 3 maybe 4.

Secondly, you build from the lines out. Right now, the O-line needs an over-haul. Yes, they have 2 All-Pros in Mankins and Vollmer, but the rest is a big question mark. They need to add another guard at the very minimum. Adding another OT would be nice, but not mandatory, unless the Pats feel that Maneri isn't working out.
