Are we going to have to wait until the start of camp before we hear about his medical condition or are there any pearls of information out there.

Hope we see him back in uniform.

Yes

No

Yes

Re: Mike Wright.

He also popped into my head the other day while my mind was wandering. I hope he's doing ok and the concussion symptoms are easing up/gone. Get healthy, big guy. We can draft another DL, what matters is you can function and live a normal life.

It took a while but there's finally some news on Wright:

DL Mike Wright making strides - New England Patriots Blog - espnBoston - Mike Reiss

That has led to questions about Wright's longer-term prognosis, and some of those questions percolated again this week after the Patriots reached agreement on a two-year deal with free-agent defensive end Marcus Stroud.

Wright, according to a source, has made strides in his recovery and has been working out at Gillette Stadium. While some players have left the area over the last few months, Wright has stayed close by, positioning himself to be at his strongest when organized workouts ultimately begin.

Wright, who turned 29 on Tuesday and enters his seventh NFL season, led the Patriots with 5.5 sacks last season. His contract runs through 2012.

Unfortunately it looks like he'll probably have to find another place to workout at in a few days.

True, but, importantly, the lockout rules DO allow him access to team doctors.

Thank You Lord, please keep Mike in Your hands as his recovery continues. Amen

Pretty scary knowing that a player that missed more than the entire last quarter of the season was the leader in sacks at 5.5

5.5 is a low enough lead sacker for a team, let alone a guy who did not play all season

We better improve next season in that department

If every DL/LB had 5 sacks, I'd be more than happy with that. :)

Great to hear he is working out and getting himself in shape for pre season.

I am no doctor

but this would seem like great news and he should be full go next year. With Stroud and the return of Tiny he should be able to go back to his role of pass wush specialist and the Dline is better all around with this news and the stroud signing.

other than the top 3 or so DL in this draft I dont think we will do better than what we have.

That's very encouraging news. Glad to hear it.

What a bad ass, it's March and he's sticking around Gillette to workout. That's something they don't catch in the pre-draft process with the combine and all that other over hyped crap.

Yes, but I think it's greater for Wright than for the football side of things.

It's months after his concussions, and he's still not recovered from them.

While he's obviously planning to play again, my guess is that he really shouldn't.

The key thing is, though, that, given the tight ship the Patriots run, none of us know exactly what happened.

What makes this especially mysterious is that we have two facts that are hard to reconcile:

(A) The injury was serious enough that Wright didn't practice after it.
(B) For several weeks, the team felt it was better to keep Wright on the roster than putting him on IR.

on the other hand, 5.5 sacks in 7 games is an excellent number. Kind of makes you think if Wright might have come into his own as a pass rusher last season.
