personally I'd welcome him back for a reasonable price after this CBA is done, replacing either Taylor or Morris. He is 32 so he figures to be looking for his last deal.

Full quote:

“There’s only two places I’m going to play. That’s the New England Patriots. And that’s the New Orleans Saints,” Evans said. “I refuse to lose. I refuse to play for a head coach I’m not absolutely in love with, and these two head coaches (Belichick and the Saints’ Sean Payton) I’d run through a brick wall for. And that’s that.”

“I think I still have some good football left in the tank,” Evans said, “but I’ve also got some great opportunities in the broadcasting world, but we’ll see. I’m going to do what’s best for my family. If that’s retire, that’s what it’ll be. I mean, who’s to say one of these two great organizations will want me back? That’s kind of where I’m at.

“The good thing is, I’ve played 10 years. I don’t have anything left to prove. I was a chubby white boy from Palm Beach, Fla., who’s played a decade in the NFL. There’s a lot in me that still wants to play. But there’s a lot of indecision and indecisiveness from two parties that control my future in the football world. I’m kind of planning for the worst and hoping for the best. But the difficult part is getting job offers from a major network, and I have no idea what the NFL is going to do. So I might basically have to take an offer and retire. I’m not going to sit around and wait on the league and miss out on an opportunity to get in the booth, because I have no idea what’s going to be there.”

”I’ve sold all my properties in Florida,” Evans said. “I am just footloose and fancy free. I’ve taken all the advice from our PA and their directors along the way in preparing for this, so I’m in a position where I don’t have to touch any investments. My nest egg to live off of has gotten a lot bigger. I can continue to live or move wherever that next job pops up. We’re just positioned for anything and everything.”

Ironically, since they've moved Toma** over to Sox coverage, their Patriots coverage has become FAR better.

I'm all for bringing Heath Bar back.

I would welcome Heath back with open arms, and I am sure Saints fans feel the same way. Where ever he ends up I wish him the best.

I'd absolutely take him back.

Notwithstanding my 12 men on the field flashbacks, I share the pro-Heath sentiments.

He could replace Morris in the FB/utility role. I'd take him back.

With all the draft picks, the Pats can afford to draft a couple of RBs.

Yes, but BB doesn't believe in young FBs, because of the judgment calls they need to make in blocking.

I would love the return of a true FB into this offense....but with the 2-3 TE sets, is it necessary?

If the FB will play STs, it can't hurt to have one on the roster...

It would be VERY nice to have Heath back. He was a dependable full back, and a very dependable football player.

Regardless, I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Would be happy to see him back!

And what he has said can't harm his case :)

I'd have him back to take on Morris's 80-100 snaps a season.

Benny, Heath, Woody, Faulk and a Rookie.

2 vets, 2 young emerging players and a Rookie.

Would like to see the rosters expanded after the CBA agreement (when it comes), then we could afford to carry our usual 5 backs as well as Faulk. Then I'd consider Pierre Thomas

I'd prefer Kuhn but, Heath will do. That game vs the fins in 05 was awesome. Evans and Cloud running all over them. I wonder whatever happened to Mike Cloud...

I think the unit with highest potential upside going into the off season is RB. People still underestimate BJGE and Woodhead. They need a free agent RB that can contribute every game in some way. Fred Taylor was out of gas when he arrived in NE. Morris too these past two years. A full back like Heath Evans could be incredibly useful, and improve blocking in a few packages which should help the run game vastly. Couple that with Gronkowski and Hernandez a year older and wiser. Somehow convince Light and Mankins to say, Bring in a Rookie T or a C/G (both?) and a rookie RB somewhere there. I've never really liked Ingram but if they think he can take this unit to the next level.. sounds alright to me. I think there's some interesting runners in this draft. I've liked them a lot more than any that's come before.

Plus, I'm no doctor but Brady doersn't seem as durable as he once was. He's a complete badass that plays through ridiculous injuries and doesn't say a word of **** to the media about it. But he's still getting hurt, I wouldn't mind if he started passing a bit less and less.

I doubt we have room. I'm happier with our 3 tight ends and linemen for big sets, and BJGE has the strong reliable RB role down pat.

Another thought, with Neal likely to be injured at some point, even if Mankins re-signs, we will need Connolly as either Guard or Center.

You don't want him suffering another injury while at Full Back.

And if the Line stays healthy. Imagine a Goal-Line package with Evans running behind Connolly with the 3 TE's in there. Jumbo-sized.

And with Benny behind Heath, there'd be the chance that the Full Back gets in the flat on playaction, or we hand off to the FB. Something we dont do with Connolly.

We cant say enough about Evans. Great blocker, does what he can for the team, runs a good lateral, tough as nails, and a really great guy. He's a fan favorite. I really hope we can hold on to him, but if he has to go to another team im fine with the Patriots getting him. Although we would miss him a lot.
He's a true player of good character, something we adore much more than a great player with none.
He has founded a number of events to help causes around the city and he still has it as a solid football player, hes a good man.
