I wasn't big on drafting a wideout but at 6-3, Hankerson would make a nice target for Brady, in addition to his broader skill set, naturally.

Interesting about Houston being overrated. Quinn as the #5 DE? Hmm....

Both Hankerson and Baldwin will need to run well in order to keep their high rankings.

In terms of the top of the draft, the most intriguing development is Dareus passing Fairley as the top defensive tackle prospect. Fairley is considered the likely No. 1 pick in many circles. Critics can point to Mayock's ranking of Gerald McCoy over Ndamukong Suh ahead of last year's draft as reason to disagree.

I like Mayock a lot but he does have some head scratchers at times.

Steve Wisnewski was not in the top five, but Moffitt was. I'm getting intrigued with the idea of drafting Moffitt as an OG/C.

Interesting that the 3-4 DE's that he mentions are all under 300 pounds. And that Wilkerson was not on the list.

There are a number of DTs that would project to DE in the 3-4 - like Fairley, Wilkerson and Dareus. So Mayock's 34 list is clearly incomplete.

That said, I have serious doubts that JJ Watt can hold up as a 5 technique.

I still question how anybody can watch Akeem Ayers and put him in a top 5 list but comparing him to Dansby? Ya physically they're the same size but coming out Dansby was a much more complete player and willing to stack and shed something I don't see from Ayers at all.

Interesting that he doesn't have Aldon Smith on his list. Maybe the kid tumbles into the second where he can be taken as a project with upside.

If you look at Mayocks top five defensive ends, all of them have first round grades. The position is so deep in talent this year that even the sixth- or seventh-ranked defensive end could go in the first round.

DE I agree but OLB where he would project for us I think he's better than at least 3 of those guys and I think Ayers is a second at best.

As 3-4 OLB's Kerrigan, Ayers, and Houston are all dropping because projections say they will have a difficult time playing in any gear other than forward.

Thanks BOR. Curious to get your thoughts - and others here - on the three he lists. Watt/Heyward/Jordan all - on paper - seem too small. I have to say in terms of play, I like what I've seen of Watt & Jordan, specifically, but it is hard to get past that they MIGHT (we'll see in a couple weeks) be 10-15 pounds under what we look for in a 34 end.

Jordan's body type looks much more Patriot DE-like. Watt has Noassatall Syndrome.

True, it seems Jordan looks the part and he did stand out at the Senior Bowl - but would he have to put on 15-20 pounds to play for us? That's what worries me. It will be interesting to see what these guys weigh in at in a couple weeks.

Agreed 100% on Watt. As for Jordan, just because he gets abused by a college player doesn't mean he'll get abused by all NFL players. Vernon Gholston abused Jake Long in college. However, Jake Long abused most DE's he faced and continues to do so in the NFL. Some guys are just bad matchups -- look at all the trouble Matt Light had with Aaron Schobel, for example.

I am a big Michigan fan and that isnt true at all. Long dominated Gholston in The Game at the Shoe in 06. In 2007 Long played very well vs Gholston again but gave up one sack. Gholston had 3 sacks in the game, numerous pressures, and hits on Henne and Mallett but he played LE most of the game which means he was matched up vs Michigan's RT not Long who played LT.

Dont believe me? Heres the proof: All three sacks are recorded in this highlight reel and only 1 was against Long.

I understand your premise though. Light gets abused by Jason Taylor too yet he usually does very well vs Freeney and Pitts OLBs.

Here is some Jordan tape vs Colorado. He looks awesome on this tape. Too bad he never goes against Solder. I really think Jordan will be good in this league but I don't think he has the bulk to play in our system. He needs to add atleast 20 pounds.
