The odd couple is out and about again. I wonder how much longer the false in your face bravado act will play in NY before they finally start holding his feet to the fire...?

Judging from this picture the initial attraction between these two must have had something to do with a naughty school teacher fetish....

Rex Ryan, of course, kept toeing the line on everything except the foot issue, staying as mum as possible about it.

He was, of course, loud about everything else. He made things "personal," first with the Colts and then with Patriots coach Bill Belichick, before his Jets fell to the Steelers in the AFC title game. Last night, he added to his list of gutsy guarantees, pronouncing the Jets the favorites for next season's Lombardi Trophy during a halftime interview with MSG Network's Jill Martin.

"Last year, I thought we'd win it," he told Martin. "This year, I know we'll win it."

Extra Large Jersey???

He is perfect for a NY Football team, lots of bombasity, egocentrism and some coaching mixed in..

By doing this and if he does not come close, he will be run out of town..

We been saying that for 3 seasons now...three strikes your out? I think the NY media as well as fanbase is so desperate for the JETS to live up to some hype they continue to cut this clown more slack than he deserves. It will probably take two losses against us and a sub .500 playoffless season for the jackels to finally all out turn on him. He's so GD much fun to cover after all... And for mediots the storylines always trump results. They loved "you play to win the game" Herm, and even the soprano guesting mangenius not to mention the legendary **** texting gunslinger... That's why BB and Brady get nitpicked to death here, all they do is a lot of tight lipped, monotonous winning...boring.

I'm confused. Why would his wife be the "alleged" foot video star? Is there really anything more certain in this world?

Last two years.

Jets playoff record: 4-2
NE playoff record: 0-2
Series: 3-2 Jets including playoffs.

I don't want to hear any more about Rex and his annoying behavior until that shakes out in a better way.

Really? What has he won? AFCE? AFC Championship? Super Bowl?

The Patriots won their their division in those 2 years. The Jets won nothing.

It's been 2 whole years since the 3 time SB champions and 6 time AFC champions have won a playoff game. It's been 42 since the Jets won anything and that was before the merger so it was in a different era.

Maybe it's not too late for the fair weather fans to jump on the Jest bandwagon. There is room, from what I hear.

Right. Rex earned the right to say what he wants when his team came to foxboro and handled business. If the patriots are tired of his act than they will have more than enough opportunities to show us and the jets this upcoming season. Until that happens, what can anyone really say to this guy.

I hear ya....i'd like to go back to the days where you never see a NYJ reference or post in this forum. As it is now there's a new one every day. Sickening

How did winning the division feel after the jets came in our house and knocked us out of SB contention?

Division titles are only good for getting into the playoffs with atleast one guaranteed home game. That's it. I would rather be a wildcard team and go to the big game.

Do not get confused, the Patriots have not said much about Rex, but the fans have, that is his intent..

He can say whatever he wants, but in reality this team has not garnered much hardware in a very long time.. he has brought much to their table, but sooner or later it will backfire.. it always does...

What goes around, comes around...

Personally would prefer our droll personalities, rather than this loudmouth.. if he was our coach, most would be extremely critical of his style, and lack of success in not making it to or winning the SB...

Division titles are great if you're the Chargers.

Point is....who gives a f%$k about the Jets an d anything that sorry franchise does.

Time for the Pats to take care of business again and get back to winning playoff games. Period

Actually ... nothing different than the crap we listen to from Jet's fans every preseason :blahblah: ... he's just preaching to the choir as they say.

This is far more a matter for New York fans and media.

You're right that we just ought to shut our mouths and take Ryan and his Jets down on the field and not with our comments. He's backed up his talk against the Patriots with actions, by beating us when it counted this January and then outperforming us in the Playoffs two years in a row, all on the road.

We're not his problem. His problem is that he hasn't backed up his talk to the New York fans and media. He's promised them a Lombardi and so far he's failed twice even to get to the big game, most recently in a season where a lot of fans and media down here felt he was given all the tools he needed to get there.

Two consecutive trips to the AFCCG have definitely bought him some time with the fans and media, but unless the Jets at least win the division next season, I think that Ryan will be on borrowed time in his fourth season and maybe in a "win it all or else" by his fifth.

For the past two plus years, the Pats have been retooling the team on the fly and working the cap versus the Jets levering up and going as hard as they possibly could and destroying their cap flexibility. Still, the Jets didn't win. I mean, who expected 14-2 out of the Pats this year? Yet, all the media does if fawn over this doofus Ryan without actually putting his success in perspective. The Jets were supposed to win it all - better team yada yada - and they failed to do so. Certainly, they were better, as they should have been. Let's see if they can keep that team together in a way that keeps them competitive for many years - that is success. I have my doubts.

All playoff runs that end in an L are about the same.

O ok I understand. From the new York standpoint your right he has failed to win a SB. I don't think he ever will either. But I doubt he will be fired if he:

a) keeps beating us
b) makes it into the playoffs every year.

The Jets out-physical'ed us, out-played us, and out-coached us in Foxboro in a playoff game. Until we can beat them in a game that means something, they have every right to say whatever they want. And winning the division does not make up for it at all, i'd rather lose the division and beat them as a wildcard team.

And I highly doubt Rex gets fired anytime soon. The guy must be fun as hell to cover from a reporter perspective, and all the talk gives the fans alot to be pumped for. Rex is in NY until he puts together 3 or 4 bad seasons in a row.

Well, the poster said that we should not say anything about the great Rex because he won a couple of playoff games.

He was suppose to win the playoff games, the division, and the Super Bowl this year. Right? That was according to the mediots and Rex himself. Considering he had all those FA's and Pro Bowlers that he had or traded for, he fell flat on his face, again.

The Patriots were suppose to be rebuilding. And how did the great one force TFB to throw the interception, drop the TD in the end zone, and muff the fake punt snap??? These were unforced errors by the Patriots but let's give Rex credit for those.

So for those who would rather be in the shoes of the Jets team with their 17 FA's and the greatest coach in the NFL, go ahead and jump on his bandwagon.

I'll make this wager. If the Jets win the Super Bowl before the Patriots, I'll post that Rex is a great coach, then I'll leave this board and never return. Fair enough? It will be one less blind Kool Aid drinking "homer".

Until then, I'll mock Rex whenever he shoots off his fat mouth. While other Patriots fans continue to pout about the last 2 "dismal years", and say that Rex is such a great coach.

If his only job is to beat the Pats more often than not, he's doing a fantastic job.

It's just a game, make sure to take the time to enjoy it.
