I enjoyed the two responses (so far) who responded:

"If the following players are there, who would you choose?" and selected "Other."
Somebody had to take the contrarian approach.

With this board, I'm mildly surprised it was only two.
The poll was set incorrectly, when "other" is the first choice you get more participation.

Went with Cam Jordan and and not that surprised that it was the 15th selection of him. Still don't think he'll last that long though.

Went Aldon Smith with the 17th pick. Although I doubt he lasts till 17, my second choice would be Cam Jordan.

Other was awesome in the Senior Bowl. ;)

He is not a scheme fit or Patriots type player... keep on eye on that Pepsi Max kid, he is rising fast.

When he still looked good with Sanchez throwing him passes, I knew he would be good value.

Since I like Wilkerson (DE) and Martez Wilson (OLB), I would pass on my first choice [Jordan (DE)]

Wilkerson remains an intriguing prospect. He is a better fit as far as size and shedding ability against the run than Jordan, Heyward, Watts or any of the other tweeners, but he has a slight case of chicken legs and lacks sand in the pants, I am not sure he will be able to anchor at the POA in the NFL.

However he is should a natural shedder that with a lot of work on technique and some added strength, already missing Woicik, he could turn out to be a perfect fit for us at DE.

Plus being a Jersey boy can only be considered a plus as far as BB is concerned.

Smith, Jordan, Watt (my personal favorite of the four), or Liuget.

If all those guys are available at #17, we should definitely explore trading down.

With BB, it wouldn't be "if," it'd be "how far." :)

For me it comes down to Jordan or Watt. I choose JJ Watt. Everything I’ve read leads me to believe that he could be Seymour II. I’m just not sure Jordan can hold up to be 3 down player, see Jarvis Green but I really like him.

Im liking Watt the kid is a tackling machine and has patriot written all over him. :rocker:

In accordance to NFL Network's Mike Mayock, he views these players as potential first round selections.

Top 4-3 defensive ends

1. Da'Quan Bowers
2. Robert Quinn
3. Adrian Clayborn
4. Ryan Kerrigan
5. Aldon Smith
6. Allen Bailey

Top 3-4 defensive ends

1. JJ Watts
2. Cameron Jordan
3. Cam Heyward

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Mayock: Top five defensive ends

Here are some others who might get selected in either the second or third rounds. New England might have an interest in those who play both defensive end and outside linebacker. Ideally, the Patriots will select one of the bold faced players with either Jordan or Watts in the first round.

Jeremy Beal
Justin Houston
Greg Romeus
Sam Acho
Christian Ballard
Jabaal Sheard
Brooks Reed

Julio Jones./

The fan base has been clamoring for an OLB/"pass rusher" for years now and Bill Belichick has ignored our sage advice, so the safe money not on OLB or DE. Jones would be great value in the 17 range.

Another first round CB?

If you think Amukamara is a blue chipper, and he falls to 17, makes sense to do it, even if the need isn't as significant. Of course if you don't see him in that class of talent, it doesn't make sense.

I'd love to see Cam Jordan fall to us but I don't think that's happening.
