Quinn followed closely by Amukmara.

I'm a little spooked though by Mayock giving Quinn such a low rating.

Another first round CB?

Yes, at #17, taking a big strong guy, with speed, who is fundamentally sound at that position, yes that appeals to me.

I want Mike Haynes-Ray Clayborn Part 2 at Foxboro.

Of course then you're paying 5 mm per to your nickel CB.

I don't see it happening, but I wouldn't be upset about it.

Or does he convert to FS with the ability to drop down on a Dallas Clark situationally?

I don't think BB will stay at #17. While he may go up, I also see him going down.

Precombine I am focused on Kerrigan and Wilkerson on defense and Ingram and Julio Jones on offense.

Toss-up between Jordan and Watt for me.

If all those guys are available at #17, we should definitely explore trading down.

I don't think the Pats have ever worried about what they were paying a guy that they might replace or move to a reduced role, they just try to field the best team. But since rookies from the middle of the 1st and on are pretty affordable, it wouldn't be a real issue. If we're talking about signing another FA CB, then I'd agree 100%. But a guy at 17 or 28 or 33 is going to be affordable, particularly at the front of the contract.

Having a CB who can come in and compete with Bodden isn't the worst thing in the world - I'd love to think he comes back to 100% and we end up with one of the better CB tandems in the league. But we have to plan for the possibility that his shoulder injury - which sounded rather debilitating - takes some time to come back from.

If the BPA at any point in the draft is a CB, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger. Especially now - you really cannot have too many corners.

There's really no possibility of that happening. I guess it would be better stated as if you could have one player slide to 17 who would you most like it to be. More likely than not though 4 or 5 will be there.

Since I like Wilkerson (DE) and Martez Wilson (OLB), I would pass on my first choice [Jordan (DE)] and take Mark Ingram (RB). I'd rather bring in competition at the RB position than draft Prince Amukmara to compete with Bodden and McCourty.

Quinn has red flags, question marks, is an underclassman etc. There is no doubt in my mind that BB will not move up for this kid. But If he should fall to us I think BB would take him because has no business not going in the top 10 much like wilfork in '04.

Plus I think if this happened we could still get our DE in Wilkerson at 33.

There are about 15 players I like at 17 that I think will improve the team. Personally Jordan and Clayborn are my favorites. If they are not taken my feelings aren't going to be hurt or anything. I like most of those guys on the poll too, so no big deal.

Problem is some people get so wrapped up in their binkies they close their minds to players abilities and how they may be used with this team. Look at the production of that player and sometimes it can show the players determination.

The Pats really don't have that much invested in the CB spot as people think. Bodden is $4 Mil for the next 3 years. McCourty is around $3.78 Mil this year but then drops to $555K, $700K and $3.94 Mil for 2012-14 so there is wiggle room for another CB. Also when comparing both of them to what other CB's made in 2009 (the only data I could find) 25 other CB's in the league made more $$ than they do now.

I enjoyed the two responses (so far) who responded:

"If the following players are there, who would you choose?" and selected "Other."

My board, with limited research so far:

Kerrigan - smart, athletic, led nation in TFL, effective pass rusher
Jordan - smart, high character, played 3-4 DE, productive
Quinn - incredibly athletic, could be a unique talent
Amukamara - highly talented corner, Pats would have three very good corners

Von Miller - may be small, but a threat off the ROLB spot, complement to Cunningham
Watt - rangey DE, may take another year

A Smith - raw, limited pass rush, rather have Houston or wait to 28
Ingram - too high for him
T Smith - college RT who projects to LT, raw

Other was awesome in the Senior Bowl. ;)

Aldon Smith has weaknesses. Limited pass rush is not one of them.
