Im watching this Steelers-Ravens Game.Big Ben just took his SIXTH Sack. That offensive line isnt giving him enough time to pick his nose! Its' a shame. The only reason Im really creating this thread is because I have ALOT of respect for the guy.He is a pretty tough player. Its even worse to see Cowher going down in flames in what may very well be his last year as Head Coach in the Steel City. Not many teams out there that play with as much class as the patriots.I was hoping the Steelers could get in on a Wildcard spot.Looks like thats not going to happen.

Ben is one of the worst QB's to win a Super Bowl. The national media yearns for the return of the days of the Steel Curtain so they always build them up to be a great team even when they're not. I don't feel bad for him because teams are exposing him for what he is.

The guy is not a smart QB (or person for riding a super-fast motorcycle without a helmet). He has physical size and good arm strength. That's it. The Steelers won the SB riding their defense. Now, they lost some key players and Rothlesberger is not talented enough to lead the offense or the team.

That's my opinion. Take it for what it's worth...

Ben deserves everything he gets. He's careless off the field and absent-minded on it. As oldskool just mentioned, he is one of the worst QBs to ever win a Super Bowl. If ever there was a more clear-cut example of a QB who is only effective when he's not asked to go out and make plays, it's Ben. That's why he was so successful in his first two seasons; the reigns were pulled back on him.

As soon as he was given the freedom to do more, his career began the downward spiral that you now see week in and week out.

I respect both of your opinions.I was just stating my own.He may not be as skilled or have the leadership qualities that Tommy has,But he is in there playing hurt most of the time,And he Keeps his mouth Shut.Thats what catches my eye.You can see he's upset. But he stays in there and does his job...Thats got to count for something. The guy is a trooper...

Nail on the head oldskool. You could say the same about Cowher, Ben's enabler.

Cowher was becoming an oppositional BB clone after having it beaten into him since 2001. Said all the right things too in the runup to their SB and in the aftermath. Problem is he has no stones. He deferred to the franchise QB, who while not mouthy has an ego the size of the Grand Canyon and a brain the size of a pea. I think Cowher figured the kid would be there longer than he would so it begame Ben's team, even after winning that SB in spite of him. Now the Rooney's have a mess. But they got that all important one for the thumb...

I don't think they would have repeated, but I do think had they held him out for the first half they might be in the hunt now. Instead they will have to wait til next year as the rest of the team ages or becomes disinchanted to see if Ben can just get back to what he was in 2001 - not an impediment.

Pahleeze he's the root problem. And while he may be hurt he is in there because he is selfish and headstrong, not because Cowher talked him into it. Ben runs the asylum because Cowher defaulted to his judgement, and he has none.

::Shrugs::: Not sure I can put up a fair argument there.LOL...

Really? WHY? He's a bit of a dope, a bit overrated and a tool.

Well he does have 1 amazing skill. The ability to create the illusion he broke the plane for a T.D. when in reality he did not. :D

The Patriots under Belichick/Pioli are the only team to maintain greatness after winning the Super Bowl....only Denver 1997/1998 can lay claim to the same.

Perhaps the media could do a story about that...contrasting the Steelers, Buccaneers, and Rams fall from championship status almost immediately as opposed to the Patriots being in the hunt every year...even under extreme adverse conditions from injury decimation of roster.

Who cares about Big Ben. I can't remember when I hear a Steeler fan have anything good to say about the Pats.
All they ever say is its the system not Brady.
I don't know who they will root for in the AFC but it won't be the Pats.
This was extra dressing for Thanksgiving for them to lose.

The lack of football knowledge on this board is astounding. Pats fans have a reputation for this and this thread sadly proves it. I read this board along with a few other opposing team's but rarely post. Some of the assine comments here promped me to do so.

Have you guys watched any Steeler games this year? The offense has some glaring problems and not all Big Ben. First and foremost is the offensive line play, notably the tackles. They get beat by speed rushers all day long. Teams have figured this out and are exploiting it.

Secondly, is the coaching. No adjustments are made ingame which is a Cowher trademark. Speaking of today's game... No max protect, few draw plays and screens. Just stick to the same gameplan that wasn't working and never would. Cowherball 2006! This abomination would not have been visited on the Patriots with their coaching. However, Wisenhunt did figure out to try quick slants though... Late in the 3rd quarter with the game out of reach!

Third is the loss of the power running game. Ball control was very important to the Steelers scheme in the past. Keeping the Defense off the field and fresh won quite a few games. The loss of Bettis took this away and the coaching has not adjusted. Everyone is saying that the Steelers lost key players but they only lost one. Randel El, Chris Hope, and Kemo Von Olhoffen made no difference in relation to the loss of Jerome Bettis.

That being said Ben was in a hole from the start this season. Although he hasn't exactly played steller at times this year the Steeler's problems cannot be laid squarely on his shoulders. Put Tom Brady behind the Steeler line today with ******ed, inflexable coaching and it would be basically the same outcome. Ben had at most 2-3 seconds most of the day.

Am I saying that Ben and TB are equal? No they are not. Brady is a better quarterback and every Steeler fan I know admits this. However, Ben is not terrible either.

Just my 0.02

Man...you could not be any more RIGHT on this topic. Ben is no question the WORST QB (and had the worst or 2nd worst QB performance EVER in a SB) to be on a winning team in a SB. I agree with everything you said above...good post

oh....and I think that he and the team are getting what they SHOULD have been getting handed to them all along......
