just a question...every article leaves out what exactly happend...can anyone explain i dont remember how he got injured...

i think it was a recurring foot injury wasnt it? I remember after season when it said he got surgery that i was a recurring foot injury that he kept getting pain

i think he can contribute..hes a fast FB..not a real good blocker but he can contribute on ST and fill if for Dillon-Faulk if they cant go

I thought the final spot would go to him or Mruc, hopefully this means Hoch. and Neal are healthy. They are still a little thin on the interior of the o line.

I thought this was a big possibility adn I think it means a few things...as already stated, it means that Hoch and Neal are back to being at 100% or close to it...like last week, Mrix wasn't needed because of the health of the linemen. I think it also means that defensive backfiield is a bit better...Spann was needed last week and he is not on the 53 this week. I think we can assume that Gino is back this week and that Chad S is OK and will play. Whether this also means Asante is ready may or may not hold. On the other hand, it may mean that Faulk isn't 100% and Mays, who has been quite good on ST is also injured and will not play. Having another RB is also good because
it may mean more tunners to pound the ball against the Bears. I am sure we will find out more.

Maybe he has been working on playing D backfield all this time and was not really hurt?? I am surprised at this move, thought he would be done for the season.. unless Dillon is hurt more than we know.

Kevin "What the" Faulk having the flu may of played a role in the Pass activation.

no he didnt..its just BB decided Pass is healthy enough to play and come off PUP. The deadline was at 4 PM to take a player off or you would need to send him to IR

It's funny - OL depth used to be one of my perennial worries. But Dante has done such a good job turning mediocre players into good linemen that I almost take our depth for granted.

Of course, Dante's not a miracle worker, but as long as he's able to get some time with some of the revolving door guys on the practice squad I feel like he'll always be able to call on one of his old pupils to fill in if we need them

Its like Dante's own mini OL shadow roster

I don't that's right. Reiss says: "Pass opened the season on the physically unable to perform list. He practiced for the first time on Nov. 8 and the team had until Nov. 28 to decide whether to place Pass on injured reserve (meaning he's lost for the season) or on the active roster."

So I'd agree with other posters that Faulk won't play, and Pass is the 3rd down back. I don't necessarily agree that it reflects on the health of the secondary, simply that Pass adds more to the team than Spann, especially if they go no-huddle and need a pass-catching RB who can also take the ball from scrimmage.

its the situation like Bruschi..your on PUP and u have till a certain day to get taken off it..if u dont ..your on IR..if coach takes you off PUP..then your counted toward 53 man roster. he doesnt have to be active for the game..and i dont think its anything towards Faulk..

either Pass is inactive this game
or
he plays and contributes on ST

Act7ually the deadline is Tuesday...not today..

i know my mistake but u dont need to take a player off the day of deadline.

Pass is a good open field blocker who doesn't have the weight to punch holes in the D-line, but does great leading outside. He is the best at blitz pick-up behind Faulk and is an excellent receiver, making him the #2 third down back. He is good as the speedy, outside contain man on kick coverage and may be playing some gunner today too.

Here's how the PUP works.

A player must first be placed on the pre-season PUP before training camp, if he is determined unfit to practice in training camp. At the final cutdown, the pre-season PUP expires and the team must either trade, cut, activate to the 53-man roster, put on I.R., or add to the reserve-PUP list.

(Pass was placed on the reserve-PUP list on the final cutdown.)

If that happens, a player doesn't count against the 53-man roster limit and cannot practice until he is "activated off the PUP."

There is a 3 week window from the day after the week 6 game to the day after the week 9 game to "activate" the player off the PUP.

(Pass was activated the day after the Pats' week 9 game, or the Colts game.)

But then, he DOES NOT yet count against the 53-man roster. At that time, the player can begin practicing.

From there, the team has a 21-day window from the time of activation, while the player practices, to add the player to the 53-man roster, cut him, or IR him.

(The deadline for that 21-day window would have been either Monday or Tuesday of this coming week. But apparently because of the Faulk situation, the Patriots activated Pass today instead, adding him to the 53-man roster which was previously at 52.)
