The Packers will beat the Steelers, and this is why.

Pushing my dislike for the Steelers aside, I think the Packers will win the Super Bowl this year and here is why.

The Packers have Aaron Rodgers and some very good receivers. If the OL can protect, Rodgers, like TFB, will pick them apart. Even the Jets had success passing againts the Steelers once they got out of the ground and pound.

Couple that with some defensive play makers. If they can limit the Steelers running game to under 125 yards, they win. I'm not saying that Rapistberger will not have his moments, but without a dominant running game, the Steelers will not win.

If the Packers had a healthy Jermichael Finley, I'd expect them to easily win. The way it is, I see them winning a closer one.

i like the steelers because of a couple of intangibles.

many of these same steelers played in and won a superbowl a couple of years ago, they know how to prepare, play in and win the biggest game, this cannot be discounted.

The Steelers have a much better defense than the bears who gave the packers a whole lot of trouble in the second half of the NFC championship.

Rothlisburger is the most experienced and successful quarterback in the playoffs over the second half of the last decade he has played terribly and played well and won both games.

it isnt going to be a blowout either way, the packers could make some explosive plays to win it, but i dont see the steelers giving up much to the packers, and i think eventually the steelers will find some room against the packers.

I'm not going to buy the 'Steelers will win due to experience' theory simply because history is full of inexperienced teams beating experienced teams. If it was that simple the Pats would have lost in '01 and won in '07, for example.

I think the biggest Achilles Heel that can be exploited is the Steelers offensive line. Both teams have excellent defensive coordinators, but Capers should more likely be able to take advantage of the Pittsburgh offensive line than LeBeau taking advantage of any deficiency in the Green Bay offense.

I don't buy the notion "The Steelers will win because of Rapebergers experience. I think Rodgers QB skills will tip the scales.

My keys to the game:

GB's passing attack and play-making ability on defense should be the difference in this game.

R-burger's tendency to hold on to the ball and and ability to improvise in the pocket should be neutralized by GB's attacking pass rush. I'd put the over/under on GB's sack totals of R-burger at 4.5.

GB has a good complimentary run game and should be able to play smash-mouth with the Steelers

GB's front 7 (Raji, Jenkins, Hawk et al.) should be able to keep Mendenhall in check

Aaron Rodgers needs to rise to the ocassion. No reason to think he won't, but its unlikely that the Steelers will suffer from stage fright.

The Packers are one dimensional on offense. This is actually going to end up helping them. They will run the ball here and there, but for the most part their going to chuck it. They will scheme getting the ball out of Rodgers hand quickly. Pittsburgh will be forced to either squat the short zones or bring extra pressure. Either way they lose out..... Packers win.

I think they win if their offensive line holds. The Packers played great against the Pats in all 3 phases of the game with a back up QB. That doesn't mean they would of beat us if Rodgers was playing. They may have done worse for all we know. Their defense brought the heat pretty good against us,slowed Brady a little and our running game only had flashes. Nice pressure.

If you compare that game to the Pittsburgh game the Steelers never touched Brady. Our offensive line matched up real well vs Pitt opposed to GB. It will come down to the time Rodgers has with the ball. He is no Brady, but if he has the same kind of time, he will rip that secondary to threads. I suspect without Pouncey Pitt will probably have a difficult time holding the center of the line. The defense of the Packers imo is better than the Steelers.

Prediction, Packers 31-16.

If Steelers can keep this a low-scoring game, it is in their favor. McCarthy's clock management is horrid (as the Pats game shows). But if Packers can score early and quick, they will win. If Rodgers can decipher and stay away from the zone blitz, I think he will carve up the cover 2 scheme in the same way Brady does, because of his accuracy.

Packers must stop the run game first and foremost and not worry so much about Ben running around in the pocket. Ben's QB rating in the SB is downright horrid, and he is usually bailed out by other elements in the game.

The one area that I'm not sure about is ST's. I don't think either team has an advantage. As I recall they are both solid but nothing special on ST's.

I also posted a breakdown of every Packers game this season on my Steelers forum. Packers were 1-2 when trailing at halftime and 0-2 when the game was tied at halftime.

If the Packers fall behind early, I like the Steelers to put the pedal to the metal and really bring it hard to finish out. Unlike "letting up" against the Jets.

Last year was a pretty unusual game. It's actually a good example of the "been here before" idea, because they should have put it away in the 1st half, but they didn't take advantage of the chances the Saints kept giving them to build a bigger lead.

The Saints also got a little lucky w/ the onside to start the 2nd, or the Colts could have ended it there.

But when you let an inexperienced team hang around, they gain confidence. I wouldn't expect the Steelers to do that if they're in a similar situation.

1. Packers are wasting time with intra-mural nonsense re pictures. Shows that they are SB rookies.

2. Ben is very good in big games.

3. Experience factor.

4. I don't buy Mike McCarthy in a big spot.

5. Packers struggled to beat a Bears team that didn't have it's top QB and that really isn't that good.

6. That the Steelers only have had to play two playoff games in an edge.

7. I have wagered on the Steelers and I never lose SB bets. Never.
