Congrats, I honestly thought if Brady didn't get it, Jamaal Charles was going to win it.

I was really worried that this meant he wasn't getting MVP until I saw that he got both in 2007.

Well deserved....

Who would of thunk it, after Randy left.

'Grats to Tommy. Now go get that 'ship next year.

Congrats TB well deserved, really amazing performance this year.

just hope the foot heals up... but congrats to him..

this is a quote from espn
"The record-setting New England quarterback, who had a string of 355 passes without being intercepted, received 21 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league.

who are those other 29? are they mentally challenged? do they not have any journalistic integrity?

what i want to know is who the f*** voted for M Vick
he didnt play the whole season .......

I'm not saying it should have worked this way, but there was some talk a couple of months ago that, since Brady was going to be MVP, Vick would be voted "Offensive Player..." to acknowledge his season. It's possible that a few of those votes were cast with that in mind.

Congratulations to him, but I know he (and we) would rather have a different award on Sunday!

Huh............kind of like when my young daughters come home from a soccer game and I tell them forget what the coach said about winning and losing. It does matter.

like it or not, some writers were going to use that logic when Vick was still having a great season, but clearly not as good as Brady's. that's not all that unusual. when the mvp is inevitable, as it was this year, writers will use the OP of the year vote to recognize others who had an outstanding season. in the final analysis, the mvp award is the only one with staying power.

not necessarily. as i posted above, that's not all that unusual. when the mvp is a foregone conclusion, as he was this year, writers will use their OP or DP of the year vote to recognize others who had an outstanding season since, in the final analysis, the mvp award is the only one with staying power.

If a guy is MVP he clearly was the best player on his side of the ball, so he's kind of by default best offensive or defensive player. why not just accept that and use your vote to recognize someone else who had a truly fine season? i really don't have a problem with that.

More importantly, the bottom line for guys like Brady is that the only award they want is a ring and an SB MVP, so we're probably spending more energy on this than Tom Brady is! He's sitting home. Rogers and Ben are playing for the award he actually wants.

big deal.......these awards remind me of how 5 year olds all get a trophy for playing soccer

this reward is meaningless

I'm happy he won, but the timeline in which they're handing out these awards is terrible. If Brady (or whoever else for whatever other year) didn't win, everyone would be up in arms until he got the MVP trophy, saying "wtf? the first offensive award and it doesn't go to the best player in the league this year?". Whereas if you just announced them back-to-back, then everyone would be content with another player winning the OPOTY. Of course, this doesn't even touch on the fact that I don't see any reason why this award even exists... it's just dumb when the MVP award is there.
