The announcing on those games was just plain AWFUL! i was ready to mute it since collinsworth and gumbell were so bad.. almost no play by play.. What did you guys think of it?

Yeah, Gumbel is bad. But I'd prefer a game with those guys vs. no game.

I grew up wathching highlight shows, with Bryant Gumbal hosting them on NBC.. He hosted them before Bob Costas.. and was brilliant... But listening to him and Collinsworth, it was pure horrid... They only been promoting those games since May, and it was just plain awful.. They need a lot of work on the brodcasting end...

Well guys, bad sex is better than no sex and badly announced NFL games are better than no NFL games. It's just the way it is. So just be happy we have Thursday night games the rest of the season.

:rocker:

Curious that network audio
now has become some kind of benchmark for quality.

Just turn off the sound
like i often do ...
and count yourself lucky to be buying cable service from someone who'll let you watch those games.
I can get NFLN. But they BLOCKED THE GAME(S) !

Well, as a fan whose Cable Company is part of the food fight with the NFL, I didn't even get the game, tho I can't imagine that I would voluntarily listen to Gumbel for three hours anyway...

Gumbel was bad. Collinsworth I like, but he hasn't announced a game in years. He has alot of rust, but he can be insightful

yes..have NFL but NO games..that sucks....was very disappointed last nite..

I agree it sucked. No HD either. Also, I can't take Deon Sanders anymore. He reminds me too much of MC Hammer.

I didn't think to check last night. Was the game on (ESPN?) Radio? If Gumble is on again next week (vs. having lost a bet and had to work on Thanksgiving), I'd turn the volume down and listen on radio.

I didn't watch it. I wish I could say I refused to tune in to protest the NFL's greedy/selfish ways, but the reality is I didn't care about either team.

The game was on the radio. I think it was carried by CBS/WestwoodOne.
**** Enberg and Sam Wyche? did the announcing.
They weren't too bad.
I turned off the TV after half time and let Enberg's docile tones send me off to sleep.

Okay, maybe I was just happy to have a game on. I didn't think Collinsworth and Gumbel were that bad. At least they talked about the game and didn't have any dopey guests in the booth (caveat - I fell asleep at half time). I still think Theisman and Kornball are the worst.

I didn't have a problem with the announcing either. I actually didn't mind them at all and I certainly liked them better then that Kornheiser that is on Monday night...he is really bad.

I loved that I could watch the game in HD too! :rocker:
