Sold on the DT from Baylor

Guy is a monster at 330+, and is killing everyone he goes up against. He would look great next to Big Vince. Love for the Pats to take him with the 1st pick in the 2nd round.

The Scouts, Inc grade is an 87 so a 1st rounder on him might be a bit of a reach. Granted that's all subject to change and not concrete but Nick Fairley, Marcell Dareus, Corey Liuget, Stephen Paea, and Drake Nevis are all ranked ahead ahead of him at the moment. I love his size (they have him listed at 6'3", 351lbs) and if he has any kind of quickness and can play the end he would be a nice addition.

I want him, I think his upside would make him equal or better than someone like Dareus and he'd cost a whole lot less. I take him in the 2nd round.

He has character issues. Doesn't learn from his own mistakes. After bashing innocent kids' faces in after a home intrusion, he went on probation. That didn't stop him from knocking heads in the student union a few months later after a teammate claimed someone stole his cell phone.

I believe he may have a civil suit pending against him for the first round.

He's slimmed down some to 337 but has been as high as 385. He will be a starting NT for someone next year but Round 2 is a little high for a backup NT to the highest paid NT in the game for the next 4 years. We have much bigger needs.

With his performance this week at the Senior bowl he will get late 1st round consideration.

I'm a big Phil Taylor fan, and I think he would be great on this team, but I think he'll easily be a 1st rounder by draft day, and thats a little high for me to be comfortable taking him. A few weeks ago as a 4th rounder with upside I loved him, now not so much. Like upstater1 said, he has massive character concerns, as well as weight issues and I wouldn't risk a late 1st, early 2nd rounder on him.

They guy I like now is Kenrick Ellis from Hampton. He's another legit 335lb NT, and possibly has a higher upside than Taylor. He has a good skill set, has dominated lesser competition, but hasn't gotten the national recognition because he plays for Hampton. And like Talyor he also has character concerns and has been kicked off a major program. But I think Ellis will last until the 4th round where he would be good value and worth the risk.

I don't like to hear about his off the field issues, but early reports have me really excited about this guy. If he does have the potential to move to the five-technique, he gives the line a great deal of versatility.. not to mention size.

With so many new 3-4 teams desperate for players, this sounds like a trade out of 28 or 33.

If he doesn't go in the first round, someone will offer the moon at 33.

lol, I remember when I said they should pick him in the 3rd round, his values gone up just a tad since then. I wouldn't take him in the top 33 only because NT is not even close to a need.

I'd still take Jerrell Powe in the 3rd if he's there. Regardless of the DE we get, he's not gonna be Seymour reincarnated, and one of the ways to compensate for not having a stud DE next to Wilfork is have a good backup NT who can take pressure off Vince and allow him to move to DE.

I personally don't mind seeing that kind of nastiness from a lineman...not like he was hitting women. With the way big vince jumped around this season I think a nt is a possibility early on, with a defensive line similar to the ravens as a result. Vince/rookie/ty warren sounds good to me, should certainly keep the o line busy and let the lb do there thing relatively unblocked (wouldn't see games like cleveland where they can send a lineman after mayo every play).

If they resign G Warren, I wouldn't be suprised if we see that more often.

It seems like there were 3 or 4 interviews last year where Vince lauded playing DE with Warren at NT.

It does appear Vince should lose some weight if he does spend significant time at DE.

Where we are short is in penetrating Dline guys if the availability of Wright and Pryor is uncertain. Ideally, we would have a rotation where we have four guys that can bring pressure.

After getting kicked out of Penn State he said he was happy to be at Baylor and away from Joe Paterno. Why? Because at Baylor the coaching style was "looser," the coach "let the players have fun," it "wasn't as regimented" and the players are "treated more like adults."

We seem to have plenty of big beef for the middle. Where we may be lacking is interior sub-rushers. And I don't see a guy that heavy being right for 3-4 DE.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kris Jenkins decides to hang up his cleats now given he's had 3 ACL tears and 2 in as many years so the Jets could well be in the market for a NT

Exactly. Taylor could fill a big need for the Jets at #30, and they don't seem to be sticklers for hard-working choirboys.

If the Jets do target this kid, don't be suprised to see #28 traded to someone like Houston or Washington. They will desperately need 3-4 personnel and that will keep him out of Jetsdom.
