Give up 17 and 28 to a team and move to 6

Would you do it?....is it time this team makes a change and takes a top pass rusher or OL?

last time we picked up high at 10,it worked out well for us (mayo)

With Brady's career getting closer to ending year after year and playoff losses mounting,is it time to find the next Joe Thomas?

I am sick and tired of moving down and trading low although last years moves worked out well so far,it's not always the best way as we saw years ago.

I say give up a pick to move up instead of gaining a late pick to move down....before Brady gets too long in the tooth.

Curious who you would want to draft at 6?

Not unless Fairley or Bowers is around.

That was still a trade DOWN from their original slot, #7.

Plus, if there's no rookie scale this year, which is certainly a possibility, #6 costs more than what they're paying McCourty, GRONK, Cunningham, and Spikes combined.

Fairley,Jordan or Dareus would fit the 3-4 and might be a good fit

I really like Jordan of all 3 of those but he could be there at 17 anyway....Fairley is the obvious choice of the 3 at 6

I looked at OL and don't see a move like that possible until #33 at the earliest...none worth a 6

We need a playmaker on defense.....not saying that there won't be one at 17,28 or later but obviously the cream of the crop and more likely game changers are somewhere in the top 10......none are guarantees of course or the Lions would have won the SB 10 times already

Yes, I would move up into the top 10 for Bowers, Fairley, or Quinn. Maybe Dareus too.

No.

There is not a single player in this draft worth trading 2 first round picks for.

Especially those three guys.

Last year everyone clamored for Dunlap, people still talk about him. But Bill even said HE WASN"T EVEN UNDER CONSIDERATION. Because he projected as a 4-3 DE. Same story for Daquan Bowers. He is not going to be the next WMac in this defense, he is a 4-3 DE.

Fairley is going to get way overdrafted. He is a one-year wonder with work ethic issues. I seriously doubt Bill takes a Juco transfer with only one year of starting experience, in the top 10.

Quinn, in my opinion, is another 4-3 DE. He missed this past season because he was BANNED from participating in all NCAA activities. No thanks.

The question should not be whether they should waste two 1st rounders to trade up for one of these guys.

It should be whether any of them are even on their board come April.

Yeah, the draft pick cost is expensive but can't forget the contract too.

If the next Seymour is available, I'd be on board. But if the #6 pick isn't several levels above #17, I don't see the point at all. I know a portion of the fan base would be thrilled with any trade-up scenario in the 1st round, regardless of who was drafted.

I would be all for moving into the top 10 to draft Bowers or even Quinn, but Fairley is going #1 so he won't be an option. However, if I were to move up it wouldn't be a straight swap of picks to move up because of the compensation required as well as the contracts. If it were to happen I think we would need to be a bit more creative.

In my mock I had us trading Mankins and Meriweather to Dallas for the 9th pick and their 4th rounder. Then using a 2012 2nd and TBC to move up with Arizona to #5 to take Bowers. This is the option I prefer because we still keep our 2011 picks and I dont see a long term future with Mankins or Meriweather. I know a lot of people want to re-sign Mankins but I just dont think he's worth the money, and if we can get good value for him I'm all for it. This option also free's up a lot of cap space to re-sign our own guys over the coming seasons like Welker and Mayo.

Should I spend $100 at Wal Mart today ? I don't know, it depends on what's there and at what price. Without a name I'm not trading up.

And for what's going to be there at #6 my answer is no.

If the Pats trade up it will not be that far. There is no prospect worth that spot.

I see them possibly trading up a few spots from 17 to grab someone that has fallen or that they like and giving up their second 3rd rounder. They don't need to draft 10-12 players this year as the roster is quite full already. 7-8 picks should be good though.

Agreed, if we love a Cameron Jordan, Julio Jones or whoever we have ranked at the #1 OT then a trade up from 17 to 12 or whatever could happen. Some blind trade of two #1s "just because" - no thanks.

Absolutely not -- too costly.

A slight move up from #17 at a minimal cost is always possible for a targeted player. OTOH, if all the targets are off the board, a trade down is also a possibility. The Pats are in a very enviable position this draft w/ their 17/28/33 slots. I think they'll want to maximize the value of those picks.

The only reason to trade up is to get another stud CB or LT. Based on info available that doesn't appear likely.

I really hope BB doesn't waste picks to trade up and do something stupid like get a "pass rusher".

Interesting someone mentioned the next "Seymour". Please consult Borges comments on Seymour in 2001.

McCourty who?

Hopefully, this is BB's plan

Best secondary in the NFL

Strong line with guys who can penetrate. Ideally, have four Dline who can pressure.

Smart, flexible LB's.

Or if BB feels he can get at least one of the same players he wants at #17 at a later pick, as happened this year (they traded down twice, and had a third offer on the table to trade down from #27).

Dareus would be the only one I would consider trading up for but as most have said in the post...Cameron Jordan, JJ Watt and Ryan Kerrigan are all available as well.

with the uncertainty of the left side of the offensive line. this has to be a priority. I would welcome Costanzo from BC because IMO there are plenty of teams who need a qb in the top 10 and every year it seems many of these top 10 locks from the experts... falls..

sorry suffering from the flu...if I am not making sense :)

Sorry to go off track but...did he really? I don't remember that, and I just reviewed BB's post-draft press conference where he talked about Cunningham & Dunlap -- he was blandly complimentary to both, just said they rated Cunningham higher for their system. Do you have a link/more details?

Never. I'd always take quantity over potential quality. Which is the beauty of having consistency on a team. The Patriots can always think about future instead of how to win now.

Agreed. Based on recent mocks and personal hunches, Dareus is the top front-7 prospect likely to be available at #6. So let's pose it as:

Marcell Dareus vs. (Cameron Jordan + Gabe Carimi)

Any takers?
