Rob Rang tweets: Iowa DE Clayborn and Florida OG Pouncey will not play. Seems like every year some of the top prospects bow out.

South Carolina DE Cliff Matthews will take the spot of Clayborn.

Ben Ijalana will not play due to injury. I think he's a great fit at guard for the Pats.

Patriots officials have met with Florida DB Ahmad Black at the Senior Bowl.

I believe the first televised practice is tomorrow (Monday) at 3 eastern time on NFL Network.

Where we can hear Mike Mayock drool over this year's version of Jay Cutler or Taylor Mays.

Mayock is good, he was all over Earl Thomas last year and he was right that Cutler was way underated back when he started talking about him. Just because Cutler has flaws he'll likely never overcome doesn't take away that Mayock had him as a first round QB ahead of all others not with teams. Oh yeah, he loved Brandon Flowers way more than most too.

Mayock > The vast majority of Independent NFL Draft Websites > Kiper > McShay

That I'll give you. He is ahead of the majority of high profile draftniks. But IMO he puts too much emphasis on measurables and not enough on gametape and what personality we see in interviews, etc.

Enough about Mayock but you really shouldn't be unduly influencing those who may be considering watching Path to the Draft because your opinion is unusual. Mayock shows a ton of tape in his evaluation. Brandon Flowers certainly wasn't a "measurables" guy and while Cutler had the big arm Mayock consistently showed "tape" of him making NFL type throws.

A lot of people would do themselves a favor by watching Mayock leading up to the draft, I know I won't miss any shows he's on.

Exactly the kind of player BB covets. Regardless of his small stature, he's one highly productive DB. Solid on ST too. Later rounds.

Also, Virginia cornerback Ras-I Dowling will not take part in the Senior Bowl because of an injury.

UGH.. Hate the fact that neither Pouncey nor Clayborn are going to play...

Though I can understand it from a "wanting to stay healthy" perspective..

I guess we can expect another 3-4 Florida players coming here.

Bunting says Solder has a 35" measured arm length. There's a nice group of Tackles this year, we could rebuild the OL quickly by drafting one to replace Light, resigning Mankins and drafting one G or C.

I would be quite happy with something like :

1a - OT
1b - Wisniewski
2a - Heyward
2b - Beal

Rebuild the OL, get the Front 7 guys we need then we still have the two threes for various BPA options.

Somebody give me the rundown on Pierre Allen. 6-4, 265, with 35 3/8 inch arms. But can he play?

Solid against the run, seems aware of the field. Not very sudden as a pass rusher; seems to lack the burst necessary to threaten the corner, which allows tackles to focus purely on his bull rush. Highly doubt his ability in coverage. In short, he's not an upgrade from Moore or Ninkovich, and might not even be as good as those two players. Seems like a nice, high effort guy, but he never stands out to me.

Flowers had Patriot written all over him, and I really liked him heading into the draft, but like Woodley you can't have them all.

I still remember Flowers saying he tried to pattern his game after Rodney Harrison...

Just a correction to my earlier post about the first practice. It's on NFLN today at 3:30 eastern time. Not 3:00 like I originally posted.

Allen's official weigh in today was 6-3 7/8 and 273 lbs so he's looking more like a 4-3 DE now to me.

Agreed I think Solder would be a fine pick for 1a. I think he would better as a RT with Vollmer moving over to LT. If they resign Light it should be for very little as he gave up 10 sacks this past year as opposed to Vollmer's 1 (Wake).
