Late in the season when the Pats and Falcons were looking like the top two teams, I started thinking of that matchup in the Super Bowl.

I thought it would be cool to see K Matt Bryant in the big game. He went to school where I live. He graduated with my older sister and I used to see him on the field after he was done with college practicing kicking while I was still in high school. (never would have dreamed back then he had the leg to hit a 62 yarder) Before he had the steady job in Tampa Bay (before Atlanta) he still lived down here and I'd talk to him occasionally at the gym.

So again, I thought it'd be great to see him in the Super Bowl. Then it hit me. What if the Pats are up by 2 with 1 second left and he's about to come out and attempt a FG for the win? I think I might have spontaneously combusted. I can't cheer against the Pats but it would have still been tough to see him miss.

Obviously that scenario went up in smoke last Saturday and Sunday.

Has anyone had any kind of experience like this when you cheered for the Pats but it just wasn't quite as easy as usual?

My neighbors are friends of the Clemens, I have played poker with Kelen Clemens dad and brother.

Several times.

Danny Ainge has sat on my couch.

Danny Ainge has sat on my cooch.

I thought he was married?

On a serious note, I took a class with Ainge at Boston U.

Meant Eric Ainge, not Danny. Danny's nephew.
He went to the same high school as my daughter. Went to college at Tennessee

I lived next to three starters from the MSU basketball team last year. Lets just say it reeked of weed 24/7.

I think there were times in the past when Doug Flutie was QB of Buffalo and San Diego it was difficult to want to see him fail for a lot of Pats fans.

Not as extreme as your example, but I'm guessing a lot of Pats fans were still Flutie fans at that point in time.

Next year the Pats play the Chiefs, with Cassel and other ex-Pats. Obviously we will root for the Pats, but it won't be the same as playing most other teams.

Unless you know a player personally, it's easy to keep cheering for the laundry.
