If Big Ben wins 3, where does that put Manning....

If Manning and Brady had the Steelers defense it wouldn't be fair for the rest of the league.

The real question is where does that put Brady? The Steelers winning another Superbowl is the single worst thing that could happen. I would honestly rather see the Jets win.

I fail to see how another QB getting a 3rd SB (if that even happens--long way to go yet) in any way diminishes what Manning or Brady has done. It's not a zero sum game where success by one team or player means that another player or team's accomplished are knocked down a peg. The Pats had an incredible run--maybe the greatest run in the free agency era--from '01 to '04...how does what happens in the 2011 SB possibly take away from that?

Re/ the poster who said Roethlisberger is "this era's Terry Bradshaw"...well they're very different QBs in very different eras, but I think I speak for most Steelers fans in saying that we'll happily take that comparison...particularly if it means we get 4 SBs like Bradshaw did ;)

Same place as before. Best QB in the league.

I see variations of this argument all the time--i.e., it's not Roethlisberger, it's the defense.

The problem with it is that it's *always* been true that the great QBs have had tremendous players and schemes to help them. You point to Bradshaw, and that's undoubtedly true. But Staubach had tremendous talent. The Cowboys had dominant talent around Aikman. Elway didn't win until a dominant running game was built. Montana and Young had the greatest wideout in history, plus that era's genius offensive mind (Walsh).

The only exceptions to this are the Redskins of the 80s, with Gibbs...and your Patriots. They had great players, but not the megawatt, star-studded lineups of some of the other "dynasties"--which is huge testament to the quality of their coaching. But that said, do you believe Brady would be where he is, without BB, and without the excellence of the Patriots organization?

The point is, you can make this sort of argument about just about any QB. (For example: what if Roethlisberger was given a dominant offensive line, instead of what is arguably one of the 5 worst units in the league?)

FWIW I think Roethlisberger is still a long ways off from being compared to this sort of company. He's 28 I think--let's give it another 5 or 10 years and then see.

I was thinking that so far it has always been Brady v Manning despite Ben having 2 rings vs 1 of Manning. Now if Ben gets 3 - I still think people will put Brady above Ben BUT where does that put Manning? Surely with 1 ring - I can't think how anyone can put Manning ahead of Ben. Will it now be Ben vs Brady instead of Manning vs Brady? That might be the only positive in case the Steelers do end up winning....

Let me know when QB's start winning superbowls without a team and then I'll give a damn about how many SBs a QB has "won".

Vick, Ben, Brees 3 different types of QB's, at some point it's a matter of preference. I like pocket passers like Brady others prefer scramblers etc.

Another ring for Ben would mean more meaningless comparisons I enjoy reading and engaging in.:p
