We did this in the temp forum as well, but again, I want to hear what people think and I'll change it up a bit:

Pretend you could only add ONE player for next season and had to go back into the year with the same exact cast but could add this one guy. What position would you pick?

Now remember you can only pick ONE position, so don't do any WR/CB/DE responses

Mike Vrabel! or Richard Seymor . . . Willie McGinest is still in the league. . . maybe Tedy Bruschi comes out of retirement? :p

That's a tough one. Is this in addition to the assumption that Warren and Bodden come back healthy and Mankins gets re-signed? If so, I'd probably go for Richard Seymour. Would love to have the Seymour/Wilfork/Warren line dominating the LOS like it used to.

If not, I'd grab an elite interior lineman, probably, since starting Koppen, Connolly, and Wendell inside is a great recipe for getting Brady killed.

Tamba Hali if he's available but i doubt this team would do that.:mad:We will get a Richard Seymour type DE with the 17th pick.I want Cameron Heyward.

Using your one man only scenario:

Add Carl Nicks at right guard. Then the team could use the draft to grab

DE
OLB
WR
RB

and go from there.

I love the Seymour suggestion that BradyFTW! made, but Nicks is only 25 and, combined with Mankins and/or Gronkowski pulling, would make the Vollmer/Nicks side of the line an absolute horror show for opponents trying to shut down the run.

Get tough in the interior!!!

How about OC? :scared:

Under the best case scenario that everyone gets re-signed, injured guys come back healthy and the season started tomorrow

Mine at this point is probably the center position. Having a guy with "Mankins-like abilities/attitude" lining up with him in front of Brady I think makes Brady better, and BJGE even more effective. It's not the "sexy" pick, but we saw the impact Mankins made when he came back, and the thought of two players like that (and as durable) is definitely interesting.

I want a solid pass rusher, so I would pick a DE

They need to sign Haloti Ngata. Give him VW money, because in a year Ty Warren will be a FA. So draft a 3-4 DE like Heyward/Jordan/Bailey and let them back up Warren for a year...or use a Rd2/3 pick on a lesser DE like JJenkins/Wilkerson/Ballard, who are more in the Jarvis Green mold.

They need to sign David Harris away from the Jets and move Mayo outside, and draft an OLB like Ayers/Herzlich/Smith/Houston, and platoon him with BCain, Cunningham and Spikes in rotations (with Mayo sliding inside-outside). Or go after Hali/Woodley.

Draft 2 OL and resign Mankins.

Of course, none of this will happen. BB is the master of all and can get by with no talent - sign the guys off the street. Because we went 14-2, so we can...but then we lose in the playoffs, when good talent beats bad talent - when coaches really start coaching.

Kraft is ripping the NE fans off....we pay top dollar and have one of the lowest payrolls. RIPOFF. Spend our money.

The Patriots had the highest payroll in the NFL this year.

Pass rush. I was torn between this and offensive line, but I am sick of QBs having almost all day to throw and not having that pass rusher who can get to the QB on 3rd downs in a consistent manner to either get a sack or at least get pressure to force bad throws, getting the defense off the field.

Seriously, everyone, if you're going to tune in to the AFCCG, watch Pouncey. I don't usually watch for OL play, but he's just fun to observe. Absolutely manhandles people, I love it.

We had a great team in 2010 and it's unfortunate that it had to end so abruptly. I think injuries really killed us in the end and I honestly don't think there is any huge concerns for this team over the offseason. We have so many great young players on the team that are only getting better.

My number one concern this off season is to get a couple top lineman (OL or DL) in the draft and to pick up some trusted veterans on offense and Defense through free agency that could have an Alge Crumpler effect. I think we need to add a RB but our main focus should be Defense. Add some players to compete with some of our already promising youngsters.

Next year we should only be a better team... There really is no reason why next year we won't be a better team unless we have more devastating injuries.

Interior offensive line.

More specifically

Resign Mankins
C
RG

One guy? A "Clock Killin Corey Dillon" type. I just don't know how many of those type of guys are in the league these.

Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush. Gerard Warren, Tully Banta-Cain and Rob Ninkovich are not going to cut it.

Ummm seriously, i hope im just missing the sarcasm? By Miguel's calculations the Pats spent 40 million less than the Redskins this season.

The one player for this hypothetical discussion is **** Seymour. In real life its too bad that he's said he'd be willing to go to 31 teams in the league in FA.
