I am thinking that a lot of the younger players on the team may have thought that yesterday was going to be an easy win. They may have not been there mentally 100%, and the Jets probably were after being embarrassed and also wanting to get their revenge. This loss is going to be a good learning experience for these younger players. Every playoff game they enter going forward, this game will be in the back of their mind and they now know that nothing's guaranteed and they will need to put their heart in soul into it.

We have such a young team and a plethora of draft picks to prepare for next year... I expect McCourty, Gronk, Woodhead, Hernandez, Chung, vollmer, BJGE, Edelman, Tate and others to take a huge step up next season. Brady knows that he won't be around forever and he'll need to work harder in the future.

Next year may be very special and this is just the beginning.

I don't think they were overconfident; I think they just didn't know what to expect. They've heard for the last two months that the playoffs are a different tempo.

McCourty is already very good. I don't expect a huge step up. Same with Woodhead, Volmer and BJGE.
Edelman taking a huge step=taking snaps from Welker

Yes they are already good but what I mean is that they are young players who now have more experience and can only get better. There is a bright future ahead.

Hopefully they play with a chip on their shoulder throughout the season. From the post game comments, It seems like they didn't adjust well and they really didn't execute. The only problem I have is that this is the same thing that happened last season.

We were much better this season than last season though.

If they hadn't already learned that lesson after Cleveland, they need to be traded away because they are idiots.

same result. A home playoff loss after going undefeated at home during the regular season. What did the young guys (non-rookies) learn from last year?

Ok, last year we were 10-6. This year we were 14-2. The difference is that this year we dominated the Jets and had a great season but lost at home to the Jets. Last season we were pretty inconsistent and had just lost Welker so we were already in bad shape going against the Ravens, even at home. This year's loss was much more unexpected and I hope they learned something from it.

yeah i think a lot of the kids probably thought that Brady and BB were going to save them. i doubt the young players practiced with the same intensity that is required at this time of year.

You would think and hope they did, but we'll have to wait another year to find out.

Or maybe the Jets simply outplayed and out-executed the Patriots last night.

I think many fans of the Patriots assumed Brady and/or Belichick would win the game for the Pats but I seriously doubt the players on the Patriots felt that way.
