Why was Brady so off?

The "Giselle" curse lives on I guess.

Really no explanation for how he came out. IMO You can't blame that first pick on anything the Jets did well. Yeah someone got a hand up but come on, you don't just float a ball up there in the middle of the defense, how does someone who's been as good as Brady this year make that throw. He did not come to play yesterday and it's very concerning for the future of this team which figures to be an elite team for the next 4-5 years w/ one more good draft. Then it just all fell apart for us even when our defense was doing a respectable job of keeping us in the game.

He came out the same way against Baltimore. People blame Matt Light for the first turnover but it's up to Brady to sense outside pressure off the edge on a 3 man rush and step up in the pocket. Then the next drive he floats it up in the middle of the field under pressure and it's easily picked. Yeah, the protection wasn't perfect but it wasn't always perfect back in the day either and he didn't hand the ball up on a silver platter.

This is what makes the loss so tough thinking towards the future, because obviously #12 is they key to our team's success and he's no longer so dependable in the playoffs. This year it's tougher than last year because we can't use the coming off a big injury excuse.

easy - the jets showed him one look and gave him another. i knew the amoeba defense was going to be used by the jets today, i just didn't know how much it would effect brady. mangini came out on ESPN or NFLN last week and broke down how to beat tom brady since he was the only coach other than Rex to have beaten the pats this year. I'm not sure if Rex was watching that segment or not but it is clear that rex implemented some of mangini's talking points into his game plan.

Prior to the game, Brady was sitting on the bench on the sidelines.. He had a cup of something in his hands that he was sniffing out of.. Not sure what it was, but he sniffed at it 3 or 4 times, taking deep inhalations.. Not sure if it was smelling salts, Vicks Vapor Rub or what.

:mad:This was not all on TB. The defense needs to step up more and too mant dumb calls (fake punt), penalties etc. Just a piss poor showing by all:mad:

There was no disruption of timing. Brady had forever to throw. A passing offense finds it very difficult when neither wideout commands a double team.

Agreed. Thats what Gronkowski, Hernandez and Woodhead are for. Of course its hard to find them when your staring at the pass rush.

Larry Fitzgerald?

Please no more assets for Brady. Hope the Pats use all their free agents signings/ draft picks on defense. I want this to be like the Ravens Superbowl winners of a few years ago. That way if Brady lays his fourth playoff egg in a row, we can still win the game.

Brady won't make the throws he has to make.

He ducking and dodging around the pocket, trying to avoid imaginary defenders and it's screwing up the plays. I think Jason Taylor once said Brady was so good he could operate in a phone booth. Now he can't even hit a guy if things are happening around him in the pocket.

I hope this isn't a trend. :(

Not sure what that was, but he just looked generally out of it. Even in the tunnel before coming onto the field. I'm not big on body language and all that, but he just looked kinda 'out of it' before the game. I loved his demeanor during the PIT game earlier this year. Where was that yesterday?

They sacked him 5 times, one time almost taking his arm off. Sanchez was not touched once.

Pryce basically said they did stuff he's never seen before:

“It was an unbelievable game plan,” veteran defensive lineman Trevor Pryce told Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. “It was out of sight. We did some stuff I’ve never seen a football team do. We flooded coverages, had man schemes that looked like zone, and zone that looked like man.”

Tom Brady spoke on WEEI this morning, explaining that the Jets played heavy zone coverage in middle of field and relied on their cornerbacks to cover outside. Peter King notes in MMQB that New York had 11 defensive backs active for the game.

“Our first reaction was, ‘How are we gonna do this? How is this gonna work?’” Pryce told Silver. “I mean, 14 years in the NFL, and I’d never seen anything like it. Rex came up with some Madden [expletive], like it was a video game. He said, ‘Hey, let’s try this.’ And it worked! They couldn’t figure it out.”

Coverage + sacks + pressure will throw any QB off his game.

Real original, sounds like Belichick's game plan against the Rams.

He had a bad game. Happens to everyone---just think about all the great games he has had.

Sanchez wasn't sacked, but he was hurried a few times and hit several times as well.

Hard to think about regular season, or the playoff olden days, when your QB has laid three playoff eggs in a row, while favored in all three games

Come on. You telling me that a guy with Brady's experience hasnt seen a defense disguise looks, play 7 DB's in man coverage, get a pass rush with 4 guys?

He just sucked yesterday, Sanchez was better which is saying something

Roethlisberger got his team through with the dregs of an OL and on his back 8 times
