At this point, it's going to be hard to even feel those high-highs during a regular season ever again.

Once you're in the playoffs it's a total crap shoot. Imagine now going 16-2 (18 games) then losing your first game? You can't increase the amount of games for a sport that has a one game playoff, that doesn't make sense.

the pats actually had a couple 17-2 seasons back to back for 2 of their sbs, didn't they??

all this season could have been was another 17-2

so technically in 4 of the pats best seasons, they are 2-2 for winning sbs

now if you're talking thier lone best season ever, 18-1, then yes they lost that one

but i don't think you can say 2010 was their best season over some of their other 14-2 seasons

2004 14-2-0 1st -- AFC East 3-0 - Won Superbowl
2003 14-2-0 1st -- AFC East 3-0 - Won Superbowl

Ironic that this comes from a Chargers fan, but I have to agree. :)

You can win the regualr season 35-31.You win the playoffs 13-10 and until you get that type of ball club your not going to win anything ask Peyton Manning.

When your best defense is your offense it usually dosen't end well in the playoffs...ask Manning.

In the end the Patriots had a straw defense.Great with 30 point lead but they aren't good enough to win you a game, when your offense dosen't show up.

Defense wins championships. And playoff games. We saw it yesterday.

Seriously, you need to stop drinking or whatever because you aren't making any sense. As JCDavey mentioned, the Pats went 14-2 in 2003 and 2004 and those seasons were just as good as this one. Is it foolishly because you give value to the personal records that Brady set?

I saw a young defense play extremely well this season, getting better with each game, but that finally succumbed to injuries on it's D-line. I saw a young defense that had 2 players show us that they are young and do some immature things. Hopefully, both have learned from it and moved on.

The Pats did far better than anyone expected at the beginning of the year. This idea that those predictions don't matter because they went 14-2 is foolishness. It means that the Pats were able to overcome situations and that, this play-off game, things just finally caught up to them.

It happens. It's why they play the games every Sunday. Do I wish the outcome would have been different? Hell yes I do. But nothing I can do will change that.

No. We saw the offense LOSE the game yesterday. The defense played well except for one play by Cotchery. The offense, on the other hand, had more 3 and outs than I can ever remember them having except during the Cleveland game..

Exactley...but what you saw from the Jets do is dominate defensivley and the defense carried the day for them. And there offense was in charge of just not blowing the game.

Pats D played well but they can't win a game for you, yet.

Most of the turnovers the D got this year was from other teams O playing catch up.

Those two regular seasons weren't as impressive as this regular season.

As JCDavey mentioned, the Pats went 14-2 in 2003 and 2004 and those seasons were just as good as this one.

The 2010 regular season was better than the 2004 and 2003 regular season teams.

Net Points
2010: 205
2004: 177
2003: 110

The 2007 team was the best.

NO WAY this was one of the two best Patriots teams ever. 2004 was an incredibly dominating, balanced team. They had the best running game in the NFL to go along with the best defense, plus a lot of veterans that knew how to win big games.

I think you're missing his point...

yes, defense wins championships... the Jets defense shut down the Pats offense. The Pats offense didn't shut themselves down.

Jets clearly had the better defense yesterday ... and that's why they're moving on.

I think OP is confusing Brady's second best year as being the team's second best year. It isn't.
