Third String But Playing on Special Teams

It was another disappointing end to the season but this team gave us a fabulous ride this year and the future looks bright. We were once again reminded that we are not invincible come playoff time when we've got a heck of a good team. Sometimes it just isn't your day. I'd like to thank this team, the players, the coaches, the Krafts, and all of you who share in the privilege of rooting for and loving this team. At the end of the day we remain one of the most blessed fanbases and with two #1's, two #2's, and two #3's coming up in April's draft in addition to the league's youngest roster, we will certainly have the opportunity to avenge this loss.
It's disappointing and heartbreaking for me and all of you b/c this team was so fun to follow. The 2010 Patriots made us BELIEVE again. We BELIEVED it was our destiny to conquer the NFL mountain and reclaim our status as CHAMPIONS of the National Football League. Regaining that feeling and expectation is an accomplishment in and of itself.
However, at the beginning of the season, that was not necessarily our reality. This team entered the season with question marks everywhere and then underwent a complete transformation during the season. And then they AMAZED everyone with how quickly they gelled and came together to play DOMINANT football.
Of course it hurts to fall short of those renewed expectations but at least we know exactly how close we are. We're just about there, except for few needed tweaks to our offensive and defensive lines. On any giving Sunday, we're capable of playing football as good as anyone and probably have a brighter future than every other team in the league.
In the coming days/weeks there will likely be many negative posts and posters but realize that this was just the first or second playoff game for many of the players on our roster. Our dynasty began with a group of players who experienced a Super Bowl loss and then a gradual decline early in their careers. Those experiences contributed to them becoming the great champions they became. So shall it be with this team. To lose like this in a season in which they played so well for so long will stick to their minds just as the loss in Super Bowl XXXI did to the Tedy Bruschi's, Troy Brown's, Willie McGinnest's, and Ty Law's of Patriots lore.
REGARDING THE DRAFT.
I hope everyone realizes that while we will certainly pick up a lot of players in the coming draft, in all likelihood we will trade down, up, and around the draft board. Some picks and moves will work out and some may not. If you're expecting a RB, expect to be disappointed. The emergence of BJGE and Woodhead will allow us to focus on the trenches. I suspect many will moan and groan while we aim for substance over style and Belichick follows his gut instinct instead of all of our draft publications, but at the end of the day, we all need to believe in Belichick. He's the captain of this ship and I wouldn't have it any other way. In Belichick We Trust.
