The Jets were better today. The Pats ability to make no mistakes, force key mistakes, and outsmart and out-execute the opposition disappeared today. The youngsters have to get better, upgrades in the trenches need to be made.

The rebuild is not complete and the first phase was highly successful, so much so that expectations were a little excessive.

I expect to be better next year.

I'm not joking when I say this: if you could bring this team back, plus the players on IR, I think they would immediately be contenders for the Super Bowl—without free agency, without the draft.

This thread sums up exactly how I feel. Losing to the Jets, at home no less, sucks donkey balls, no question about it. But we now have 27 rookies who have tasted their first playoff game. This season has been nothing short of magical. Boy, did we ever rebuild. On to the draft. GO PATS!

Howis everyone doing?

:)

Back away from the bridge.

It has been a great year, we have a great team. Future looks bright.

Jets won, they played pretty good.

Hang in there gang, we gonna be fine...suck atm, yes...totally, but it's gonna be allright...

You hate to have them squander such an opportunity this year but I feel the same way. They weren't expected to be here and maybe just weren't ready. I think they are almost there.

Tom Brady is only getting (even) older.

The Patriots will not win another Super Bowl as long as Tom Brady is the starter. Tom Brady is the next Brett Favre.

I think that this is why I'm not devastated by this loss. I never expected this team to get this far when the season started. I looked at the Jets moves and thought that our team just wasn't good enough. They definately surprised me. 27 rookies wow thats a lot of young players and there are more to come in this upcoming draft. It's going to be an interesting offseason.

This really, really, really sucks.

But yeah, this team learned a lot this season and re-built in a hurry. The future is really bright, though this loss still sucks.

I was about to post the same thing. 5 starters on this D in their 1st or 2nd year. 2 TE's as rookies and a whole offensive rebuild on the fly complete. Now add in our #2 D Lineman and our #1 CB coming into this year back into the fold next year, and 6 picks in the first 3 rounds to add to the trenches, pass rush and possibly a WR, and the future is looking bright. Not to mention the teams who mortgaged the future for this year, like the Jets, if a cap comes back and in what manner it comes back.

If in the beginning of the season you were told this season would happen, with the trades of Moss and Maroney, the Faulk injury, the defense suffering with growing pains and injuries, and adding so many new pieces on the fly, nobody would have thought 14-2. It sucks to lose to the Jets in this way, but that team was built to win today and this season, we are built to win next year and the year after, this year was gravy, maybe even better now that we know what we have in rookies like McCourty, Gronk and Hernandez. So mourn and be upset now, but the future is looking bright for this team.

The Jets were better in 2 out of the 3 games. I don't give a **** about 14-2, all the Brady records, Brady MVP, etc, they don't mean ****. That being said, with the young unproven team, incredibly tough schedule, and tons of injuries, I was shocked they won 14 and the division. Expected 10-6. That being said, I'd gladly take 11-5, second place in the division, and 2 playoff wins, like the Jets have. This was a tough, demoralizing loss, and hopefully this young team learns their lesson, learns how much losing hurts, and gets beter from this. Defense wins championships, and ours was suspect all year. Hopefully they use most of their early picks on a pass rush. Sanchez had all day back there.

Yeah, I'm pissed, but ever since SB42, I don't take football seriously enough to let it mess with me too badly. This team came up short, and I'm angry as hell because of how it happened (at the hands of the Jets, on our home field, etc. etc.), but the Pats are well-equipped to succeed in the next few years. Hopefully they address the offensive line in a big way this offseason, because I dunno if I can handle trotting out some combination of Koppen, Connolly, and Neal next season. Koppen was absolutely terrible today and needs to be replaced, end of story. As long as that's addressed, young players maturing, injured guys getting healthy, and draft picks should do pretty well for the rest.

Tom Brady had an MVP season though?

Brady made huge mistake late in game. Throwing ball to Welker on third and ten for a one yard game made no sense. It ate up the two minute time out and probably made Pats onside kick. Any pass less than ten yards wasted valuble time. Got to know the situation.

Let's not diminish what happened here. . . .

I have to thank you for making laugh for the first time in hours. This is great, and such an appropriate response to the nonsense in question and any further nonsense that's bound to be posted by panicky-Pete bandwagon jumpers.

Didn't even think of that man, still a little shaken from the game, but plenty of reason to be optimistic about the future.

Give me Ty Warren, Leigh Bodden, use the draft picks well, sign Mankins, and get a new CBA and I'm feeling good about the future in Foxboro

Sums it up for me, too. Hopefully, additional personnel (especially the offensive and defensive lines) will help Bill, Brady, and Co. get their playoff mojo back.

I think the general feeling was that we are one draft away from truly solidifying everything we need and I agree with that theory. We have an excellent shot at a super bowl next year as the team is. And we will be adding Ty Warren, Leigh Bodden, and 8 picks in the top 4 rounds.
