Benching Welker- Pathetic

He cut the teams Balls off.

Rodney would always talk sh*t back

Now we bench guys. Pathetic.

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

Agreed, that wasn't the reason we lost but he shouldn't have been benched.

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

At the beginning of the game, I didn't like it. Welker was damn clever there, and good for him. But I thought, "well, I disagree, but I can respect the move."

Now? I agree with you. Don't punish your players for being p'd off.

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

Our failure to take advantage of our 1st quarter opportunities cost us this game, if we got the jets on the back foot it's a different ending today.

Oh well, who knows when the next snap of the ball will be.....

It might well have been. I disliked the move even before the interception, and as soon as that happened I texted my cousin saying "if they lose by one possession, that will be the most second-guessed move of the Belichick era".

Of course, I was wrong, since the coaching staff outdid itself with the fake punt later in the same half.

I hate to say it, but the team came out unfocused and sloppy. I have to point my finger at BB benching welker throwing off the focus of the team and bringing in a big distraction right before kickoff

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

lots of things went wrong today...the botched fake punt, the pick, the lack of a pass rush, the pats didnt force any turnovers. they had all kinds of problems

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

It was the right move. It's the Patriots' way (BB) or the highway. The benching wasn't just for this game, it was a message to the team that will resonate for a long time. It sends the young players a message.

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

Do you think Belichick was trying to make a point about how classy the organization is in benching Welker? Almost showing Ryan how he controls his players unlike how Ryan handles his players. I just can't see doing that in a do or die game.

Benching Welker- Pathetic

Look at the Pats ofnthe past they always talked back. Never talked first, but taljed back. Either Willie
or Rodney etc., to bench a guy, was not the Patriot way. Go back in history.

Brady wasn't getting in anyone's face, wasn't exhorting players at all. His eyes looked a bit dead during the game. When he came out of the tunnel I had a feeling of that horrible Super Bowl nght. Wild speculation here, but I wonder if Tom was pissed off at the benching of Welker. And he never quite got centered again.

I am usually a big BB fan. But IMO benching Wes was a dumb mover by BB. Seems he is more interested in control than winning. This young team didn't need the distraction of benching Wes. Mistake.

Completely agree. If there's one thing we know about Brady, it's that he's very easily thrown off emotionally.

Look at the Miloy deal, Seymour, the loss of Branch initially, etc... Brady plays horribly when his friends aren't treated well.

The benching of Welker was a stupid move. Yes, discipline him in some way, but do it in a way that doesn't disrupt Brady.

Did you watch the Pats first offensive possession/drive? It was the most focused and unsloppy one of the game, until the INT.

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

If Brady made those comments do you think BB would of benched him?

Re: Benching Welker- Pathetic

I agree w/ thread....unreal.
What a bad move....actually lots of bad moves....is McGowan coming back next yr?

No because of Depth. We can win without Welker. Benching Welker didn't affect the game. What affected the game was going for it on 4th and 13 when the Offense had been playing like ****.

True. But those first plays are scripted, no?

Anyway, my idea about Brady is just a theory. But something must explain why Brady was quiet and unemotional during the game. He has been in teammates' faces all season long, but not tonight. Never saw it once.

I think this was a real "jinx" when BB did that (and I am not superstituous overall) But in a playoff game....YOU PUT ALL your weapons out there unless a player committed a crime/felony or something. He was once again trying to prove that he is the most intelligent and honorable coach in the history of the game....and he outcoached himself with that blunderous decision. U don't think Welk being out there would have opened up the offense on that opening drive....I do

Agree....Brady has looked like that all to often as of recent in the big, important games. Just walking around like a emotionless zombie (with exception of yelling at Woody)
