Maybe I'm overreacting, but can we formally stop referring to Brady and Belichick's playoff pedigree now? Whatever they had going a decade ago, it's obviously gone now, and has been for some time.

I dont get it man, what an unbelievable choke job from they today. I honestly think the extra week off hurt their momentum and rhythm. What a bad way to go down...

You are over reacting.

Not to be facetious, but that's why BB took down all the old photos.

This isn't the same team as the 2001-2004 Pats, and comparing them is unfair.

That said, something needs to be changed, because the last three losses have all come on the offense. Not necessarily Brady, but the offense.

I'm not talking about the old teams. I'm talking specifically about Belichick and Brady. They've both been coming up small in the playoffs since 2007.

It's simple. The offense has been neglected of early draft picks the last 5 seasons. Much (most) of it has been given to the defense. It's time to start adding some playmakers to offense early in the draft so that it's not just about Brady making no namers look good. Give the guy some highly skilled weapons damnit.

Very overrated. I would have rather had them play last week than have a bye week

you've got a problem on offense

before that last garbage time td, the pats had a pattern going of only being able to score 14 points

pats definitely need to get some pass rushers and some better wrs to stretch the field

i can't figure out what the hell their playoff problem is because they sure didn't play like that in the regular season

They were a team with a bad defense that overachieved in the regular season. The Green Bay game was the first warning sign that anything less than an awesome game from the offense would be a loss in the playoffs.

To quote Dennis Green, "They are who we thought they are." Take it for what it is......a rebuilding year. Go Green Bay.

As a Pats Fan, I think its time to legitametly question our sb rings. We haven't done anything since the league caugght on to our spying habbits. 07 was 07. That was the most talented team ever assembled. We would have dominated no matter what. Yet we still ended up loosing the most impt game.

This is the lamest Jets troll I've ever seen in my life.

Your an idiot. The offense did choke though.. the defense was put into bad situations the whole first half. This team over achieved but the strongest point of are team failed us tonight.. Brady threw a Horrible interception that was the play that cost us the game most likely.

Early in Brady's career he seemed like an elite clutch QB and nothing all that special the rest of the time. Later in his career he has been an elite regular season QB and nothing all that special in the playoffs.

Odd trend, small sample size notwithstanding.

It just makes me think that we never gave those defenses enough credit. Having a ton of elite talent on D maybe made every other facet of the team look a lot better than it really was. If the D gets a defensive score today and stops a touchdown, we're all talking about how Brady, even on a bad day, "dug deep and did just enough to win."

How a completely unrelated part of the team plays influences our perception of the rest of the team a lot more than we'd maybe like to admit.

As ugly a comparison as it is, I think it has to be said that this was the most Colts-esque season the Patriots have had. I don't mean that based entirely on what happened today, but rather Brady's play masked a number of issues. For the most part, people ignore the cracks in the porcelain when you win 14 games.

Those wins were predicated upon an unheard of TD:INT ratio (9:1) and a defense that was making up for terrible third down play by coming up with turnovers at the most critical times. If Brady had a 2003-ish season with 28 TD and 14 INT combined with that defense, a lot of those last minute stop would never have been in the picture to begin with. They would have won nine games and missed the playoffs.

Today was the day where Brady made a turnover, the defense didn't force any (Comcast cut out no less than five times, so pelt me if I missed something), and no other facet was improved to make up for those. Even a mediocre special teams performance could have bought them a little more breathing room. They got plenty to fix. People are just realizing it now.

That's a great post. I also agree with the other post, regarding Brady being a finisher/clutch QB before, and now he's a great regular season QB. It's a tale of two Bradys. The current Brady is more Peyton Manning like, and I guess the Pats team as a whole is more Colts like.

Brady is Manning... that's as painful as realizing our last playoff win was 1092 days ago.
