NESN:Pats loss would be worse than SB upset

I read through the whole article last night and even though it would hurt a lot, SB 42 is absolute rock bottom (after plunging from atop Mount Everest). Losing a second-round matchup to the Jets would just be excruciatingly annoying.

No way. I didnt watch sports for 2 months after that. They were 1 minute from being best ever.

That's not accurate in the least. This team is young and improving, rebuilding, reloading. We will likely be better next year! Losing today would hurt a lot. It's the Jets. But we will be back.

After losing to the Giants there was also the devastating thought that we would likely never be in THAT situation again, 18-0, chasing perfection.

A loss today would hurt. It would be disappointing an embarrassing.

For those of us who remember, with the exception of Game 6, Nothing, Nothing comes close to SB 42.

I agree with this....

After all the smack talk, emotion, the Boston/NY THING and the total dis-likeability of the entire Jets organization...(Seriously...Name ONE guy you like on that team.....I respect Revis....But I don't like him)...it would be a VERY DEPRESSING off-season.

Nothing could be worse than the helmet catch game.

Totally agree. Losing today would be worse. We'd have to endure at least one more week of bloviation.

The SB loss was earned by the Patriots coaches and players. Poorly prepared for the Giants up the middle blitzkreig and slow to adjust. The Giants were well prepared, smart game plan and executed on the field. Pats put themselves in a position where misplays (missed INT, failure to take down Eli...) and a fluke catch could screw the pooch. Lost to the better team that day.

Unlike the class Giants org, the Jets epitomize everything wrong, starting at the top and drooling down all over the entire misbegotten enterprise. Losing today would be wimping out to the loudmouth bully. Time to punch out his lights.

Not for me. I didn't expect much going into this season because of all the young players. I will be very excited about next season no matter what given the players we will be picking up in the draft and coming back from injury. I'm already excited about how good they can be next year.

The article is pretty much worthless, playing off the sensationalist hype of the moment rather than looking at the big picture. For instance, the Jets were already supposed to have past the pats and yet here we are yet again. Why don't they win the division before we go ahead and declare them taking over the division. Because even if they do happen to beat the pats today I highly doubt they are good enough to win a superbowl (although stranger things have happened).

No way. Nothing could ever be worse than that game. The only thing that could make it worse is if we went 18-0 again then lost to the Jets in the Superbowl and since that will never happen this game would have to settle somewhere in the top 10. But 42 will be the worst game and one of the worst days of my life

Worse than that SB loss? No way

No need to be prisoners of the moment, yes it would be AWFUL but it wouldn't even be worse than blowing the 21-3 AFC Championship game lead, let alone SB42.

Totally disagree.Enduring one more week of the blowhards would be a pain in the ass but, I still to this day am depressed about 18-1, and probably won't get pass it until we win another SB.

Are you fing kidding me? This team is playing with house money right now. Anything more is gravy. Don't forget this is a rebuilding year with a young defense. Not an experienced veteran playoff seasoned defense like others in the league. They should prevail today but losing would not even be close to the SB upset.

Did this reporter take a payoff from Rex to publish this? Seriously, it sounds like a weak attempt to place more pressure on NE.

I'm glad they only read the Belichick times! :singing:

Depends on how much you hate the Jets, Ryanosaurus Rex and Dirty Sanchez. That crew (criminal pun intended) is the only gang (ditto) that will compell me to pull for a Peyton Manning victory.

No way, Jose.

Exactly. It wouldn't even be worse than that 2006 AFCC where pats gift wrapped the first of two manning super bowls. Heck, the ben Watson/champ Bailey game might be worse depending on how this one plays out.

And let's not pretend that the Bears and Packers SBs happened to some different team.

What a completely idiotic article. A shift of power in the AFC? What is this guy smoking? We are a young team with four picks before the Jets even make their first pick, and they have a few key players they won't be able to resign because there are too many FA's after this season.

A loss today would be bitter with the amount of crap we'd have to take from New York, but will not be the end of the world because, 14-2 or not, this was and still is a rebuilding year.

That's about the dumbest thing ever.

We were 18-0 going into a Super Bowl that was going to crown our team as the greatest of all time with the GOAT QB and Coach.

And they want to say that losing to the Jets in the Divisional Round would be worse? With a team that no one had great faith in at the beginning of the season?

That’s just irresponsible, sensationalistic journalism.

Stupid Stupid Stupid.
