Colts and Ravens eliminated and we havent played yet?!

The Packers from yesterday are scaring me a hell lot of more than the Colts or Ravens.

You mean because they came close to beating us not many weeks ago, and are a lot better now than they were then? Pish, tush. You worry too much!

How is everyone's confidence now that the 2 teams that have beaten us in the playoffs(AFC anyways)are eliminated?? No Peyton or Suggs to worry about....

Anything can happen in the playoffs no matter what team we play so it's not really a matter of worrying any more or less just because certain teams are out. I'm just glad the Dirty Birds and their numero uno Mouth have been silenced:rocker:

The Colts were not a good team this year and the Ravens last night showed that they make too many mistakes to be a contender. Pittsburgh and GB are both better, and the Jets may be too.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this.

That would be 7th superbowl and tie the Pats for 2nd in appearances. Only the Cowboys w/ 8 and the Steelers w/ 7 have been to more SuperBowls. Patriots 6times, tied w/ Broncos in 3rd as of now

Slow w/ the post, Counting Appearances

It would be the 5th under Belichick. Which is what I believe he was referring to.

In order to win the Super Bowl, the Patriots have to play three incredibly tough football games.

I was thinking about this last night, the two teams I didn't want the Pats to face, the Colts and Ravens, the ones we seem to have the most problems with, are gone! Things are shaping up too well! We can't blow it!! Arrggghhh!!

I am so nervous for this game. Leaving in about an hour! Good luck Pats and have fun everyone!!

Please please please beat those G-damn Jets!!

Frankly it was hard to imagine you guys losing to anyone even before the Ravens and Colts were bounced (I honestly never understood the trepidation some posters here had regarding the Colts--they were a shell of themselves this year, and I think you might have obliterated them).

If I were a Pats fan, I guess my only concerns would be: 1) there's a lot of young talent, and maybe they tighten up if an opposing team keeps it close in a pressure-packed playoff atmosphere; 2) the Pats' tremendous low turnover run halts suddenly (although admittedly this is largely due to Brady's precision, so maybe a low chance of this happening); 3) injuries, a bad game at the wrong time by a key player, a David Tyree catch or similar Random Acts Of God.

I really don't expect any of the above to happen with your coaching and veteran leadership (although I do think the games will be closer than 45-3!)

That said, crazy things happen every year in the playoffs--I guess Pats fans would know this as well as anyone after '07--and the best team doesn't always win it all. It seems like there are plenty of people on this board dismissing the chances of the Jets, Steelers, Packers etc. but I'm guessing at least one will give you guys a tougher game than you expect...it's just the way it works in the playoffs. The best thing for Pats fans is that there's no way the Patriots themselves will take anyone lightly at this point--that coaching staff and those veterans run a tight ship.

Good luck today. While I'd love a game at Heinz against the Jets, I fully expect we'll see you Sunday at Foxboro. (We will still show up, history be damned ;)

Thanks for the level-headed analysis, and congratulations on the comeback yesterday. Hopefully we'll have a lot more to discuss with each other later this week.

There is one team left that is a serious threat to the Patriots and that is The Packers...if the Patriots get that far.

I assume that the Bears will annihilate the SeaChickens and the Packers will annihilate the Bears (but oh wouldn't it be sweet if Seattle has a fairy tale playoff and ends up in the SB...only to be crushed...). I re-watched the Patriots / Packers and it was a very close contest....

JMT,

Just wanted to say thanks for continually making a non-Pats fan feel welcome on your boards this season. It was good to get some real football talk in here (and not trash talk).

I was as stunned as anyone regarding Sunday's outcome. I just posted this in another thread--but hopefully with a bit of time and distance, the Pats nation will see this season more objectively, and recognize what a tremendous season it was. One of Belichick's finest coaching jobs for sure (who would have thought after Cleveland that NE would have morphed into *the* dominant team in the NFL, despite all of their young players?)

Despite the loss, NE still has BB and Brady, a great organization, good young talent and a huge stockpile of premium draft picks. I expect them contend for Super Bowls for years to come.

You sure were right.
