Mangold just tweeted:

"Wes Welker is a great player. He's really taken advantage of watching film. If we don't keep a Spy on him, he could really open the Gate"

Very sad

I knew one of the Jets was going to stick their foot out on TripGate

You guys don't know how to react to things like that do you? The best response to it is to give him credit for lauding Wes Welker and let him think you don't get it. Nothing worse for a player than if everybody actually goes around saying he was crediting the opposition when he didn't intend to. .

at least one of them tried to be as good as welker even if they had to steal the idea

It's just a really pathetic comeback.

groan............

Mangold...THAT WAS LAME :bricks:

Like we needed spygate to whoop the Jets last time right ...

Welker should sue him for joke infringement.

omfg! A "SpyGate" reference?! From a Jets player, no less?! How original!!

Nick Mangold, master of wit and subtlety

I bet it takes him 45 minutes to come up with a joke that would have taken Welker 3 seconds to make

Mangold-quality humor right there!

Hey Mangold, maybe instead of tweeting copied jokes, you should get a haircut, how about that you knight errant?
F*cking fat slob.
I hate the Jets.

What? Film that we all wished we hadn't seen like your fat ***** coach sniffing his stank wife's feet?

Frankly, I expect better retorts than that from centers.

Exactly, so we should just rephrase the wording slightly and send it back around the web. Like as follows

Nick Mangold on Welker: Great player and if the Jets don't watch him carefully he could destroy them.

Spying is not illegal....thats why smart teams change their signals. Call it camera-gate stupid. And then remember your team filmed as well!

....just a convenient justification of getting their asses kicked year in and year out.

Yes Mangold....teams are still filming. Just not from the field

I thought O-Linemen were the smart ones. Pretty lame, and more than 24 hours late. It's like he spent all night thinking about a comeback and that was the best he could muster.

Also, invoking and bringing up "spygate" just before a game with the Pats isn't the best idea. Just ask the Chargers.

"I didn't trip him, I only nicked his foot. But . . . I want to kiss you!"

I thought it was funny. Definitely more original than Cromartie's attempt at trash talk. Nice to see we're under their skin.

Damien Woody retweeted it.

Meanwhile, a guy claiming to be Rosey Colvin has a lively Twitter thread: Twitter

I actually feel embarrassed for Mangold. That was sooooo bad. Nikolai is right, he spent a good portion of last night trying to come up with that one.
