So yeah... i'm highly tempted to get tickets on stubhub.

I know travelling to and from the stadium is a nightmare and parking is a ripoff.

What should a newbie know about going to a pats game?

I haven't been to a home Pats game since they were playing in Foxborough and Bledsoe was the quarterback, so I can't tell you what to expect. Why am I posting in this thread, then? To simply ask you why you're even CONTEMPLATING this? If you have the means to go to this game... YOU GO!!!

Park down on RT.1 Much easier to get in and out of. Bout a 20-30 min walk to stadium

I forgot Monday is a company holiday for me... but i'm looking at low $300's to $500's in ticket prices on stubhub plus i have to drive 4 hours each way... i'm trying to gather all my facts to see if it's worth it :p

Having never been there, where on RT1 do you park? On the road? Also, if i decided to park in the parking lot, will i be able to if i got tickets off stubhub instead of through the Patriots?

If you aren't planning on tailgating after the game, I would park in a satellite (private) lot so that you can avoid sitting in traffic for a long time.

From where are you driving?

We park on the corner of Pine St. and Route 1 behind the Seasonal Specialty Store (across the street from the Lafayette House). Get there at least 2-3 before game time. PM me for directions in and out of that lot using back roads. We never sit in traffic at all.

I'd have to drive from southwest Connecticut

So very worth it. I know what kind of drive that is, though. It takes me around four hours to get into Georgia from where I'm at. Why not stay at a hotel for the night?

Yeah my parents live in MA, so i'll just crash there.

get there early and you won't have to put up with the traffic. it's a lot easier to tailgate for 4 hours than to spend extra hours in traffic. After the game you don't have much of a choice but plan on tailgating after also

Wait, i see that there's an MBTA train service from south station to gillette... is the train station within walking distance to gillete?

Forget these jaded fellows telling you to park FAR away and slip out before the crowds. This is your FIRST time, make the MOST of it. Parking lots open 4 hours before the game (wink wink, a little earlier than that). Show up then, bring a grill, make friends, drink beer, ENJOY yourself. Seriously, I have made so many friends and met so many interesting people, and shared in the culinary wisdom of the greater New England area. It is a truly great experience.

Park in p10, right across from the stadium, its 40 bucks, but its worth it. After the game, break the grill back out and have some burgers (sober up, cause your car isn't moving for another hour) and ENJOY YOURSELF.

The most exciting part of the day is when you take that long walk into the stadium. It gets the blood pumping, it gets everyone excited, it makes you loud, it brings out chants, you will want to run through a brick wall, trust me. ENJOY YOURSELF!

And before you say anything about the long drive, I've from South western CT, so i know its a haul, but this is what we live for! Friends, fans, beer, food, PATS FOOTBALL. ENJOY YOURSELF!

Haha! i'm soaking all this in. Actually maybe i could visit Patriots Place after the game, since it's my first time, i wouldn't mind spending a couple hours more there.

Just make a lot of noise and we'll all be happy.

You're already good as you have accepted the inevitable. I don't know where you are traveling from, but I live about an hour and 10 minutes from Foxborough, and for a playoff game like this, particularly one in the late afternoon, I leave about 4 hours before game time. In my old age (46, season ticket holder since 1993) I have given up tailgating and now go to one of the restaurants in Patriots Place for a nice meal and wine (and tvs) prior to the game. If you have never been to the stadium before, it is nice to go in early and watch warm-ups, and they have now taken to showing an earlier game on the screens, if there is one, so the NFC game on Sunday (I don't even know which one, with my Pats blinders on this week). If you are really early you can go to the pro shop and/or the Hall of Fame (but they close as the game gets closer).

Try to park on Route 1 on the side of the stadium in the direction you plan to drive after the game, or pick a lot where they advertise "easy out." I think all of the official stadium lots, even those on Rte. 1 have a state trooper getting people out after the game, and that is a must. Don't park in the lots right next to the stadium unless you don't mind waiting hours to get out. It's $50 for a stadium lot, either on Rte. 1 or next to the stadium.

Wear layers (long underwear under jeans and a long sleeved shirt, plus parka) and wear boots with ski socks and toasty toes. Bring a hat and gloves. You won't be cold during the game, but the walk back to the car will be brrrr.

Have a great time and don't sweat the traffic or the parking. You'll be at a playoff game for your favorite team!!! Awesome!

They don't play in Foxborough anymore?!? Did Kraft sneak the team out at the dead of night and move them to CT after all?:D
