Will McCourty ever return some kicks?

The Pats don't play scared. If the Patriots Play Brady when the game is well in hand, then why can't McCourty return kicks.

Can anyone tell me the last kick returner who missed a game due to injury? Not just for the pats, but for anyone?

Returning punts is more dangerous IMO, but even then they have Welker return punts.
Because McCourty's performance and importance to our defense is unquestionably second only to Vince Wilfork or Jerod Mayo right now.

Later on down the track when we have Bodden back perhaps, but until then I vote no on proposition 15.

Jason Seahorn says hello!
and the other 1000 players who have returned kicks since then with out getting hurt say stop worrying so much, it's football damn it!

In an elimination game, you want to leave it all on the field.

I would of been more worried about Brady playing late in games that were out of hand, when the oposing D could take a cheap shot on him via what the Packers did to Jim McMahn then someone returning kicks in an elimination game.

I want no part of it- for now. The KR game has been ok. Could be better. Could be worse.

If his KR gave us some kind of a Devin Hester-like boost, maybe.

But it seems to me with Tate, et al. we're fine.

Besides, Connolly has been cleared to practice. :D

Why would you suddenly have a player do something he has not been asked to do all year (return kicks) in a playoff game unless it was due to extenuating circumstances such as an injury to another player?

I wasn't implying that he should return kicks this season. I think that it's obvious that he's not returning any kicks this season... The question was "Will he ever return kicks?".:attention:

Sign Asomugha in the offseason and McCourty can return all the kicks he wants in 2011.... Until then,no

I have to be honest. I don't want to see McCourty returning kick offs.. ever.

You have much wisdom. Seriously, I would not chance it.Maybe if Bodden was healthy, but not now. No way.

It's not really that at all RutgersFan. McCourty is so important to this team now and giving consideration to the fact that we have players who can punt return and kick off return, there's really no need.

Provided Bodden comes back and the performance of Butler, Arrington etc continues to improve then fine but I know I feel a lot safer seeing 32 playing at corner than any other Patriots player.

McCourty looks a once in a generational player. No matter how good he is at returns, I'm not willing to chance the 10000000th of a percent of a chance that something goes wrong. Hell even our o-lineman can play on returns ;).

Too bad he did not get enough returns to qualify, otherwise that o-lineman would have led the league in KR.

Even though Tate has not really made much noise at all as of late returning kicks, I hope McCourty does not field any kicks, lets let him stick mainly on shuttin fools down!

I agree dont play scared.

But there are plenty of examples of kick returners getting hurt.

Just last preseason Slater practically dislocated his elbow returning a kick.
